trasnmission fluid level sensor? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I read somewhere that E90's throw a warning on the dash when the transmission oil is low. I know they have an oil level sensor, but wasn't sure they had a tranny fluid level sensor as well. Anyone know the answer to this?

I changed my auto transmission oil 2x and I don't remember seeing any lights showing low-level. Bmw believes that since it is a closed system it doesn't need a dipstick. However, they recommend changing it at 100,000 miles (even though the sticker on the pan states "lifetime"). They also overlooked something, they are assuming your transmission lines/pan/seals will never leak. If and when they do, that will ruin your transmission and you won't know it until it is too late. The art of engineering.

Also, the manual shows that there is a transmission light when it over heats.

Was your tranny oil low when you changed your oil?

No, but at one time it was low during the process of changing it.

After thinking about it, I can confirm that there is no low light indicator. Here is my DIY, http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367729 the oil was low at one point during the oil change process (while I was sitting in the car and shifting through the gears) and no oil light came on. See Steps 9-11.
