Same on the SLK. Although I find it a bit strange that the headlights come "ON" but the buttons on the dash don't get backlit until the Nav screen goes to night mode.

I am sure my nav used to dim with the auto lights - 2006 335i iDrive.
I remember a tick box for it in a menu?
But - its been a while
