Front Right Parking Light Malfunction - Help
So I was driving yesterday (2006 BMW 330i e90 sport pkg) and the Front Right Parking Light Malfunction indicator light came on. I took a look and my front right angel lights are not on, but the xenon and the turn signal light was still working. I am trying to avoid going to the stealership, but if I did go, how much do you think they would quote me to fix it? I already looked at some DIY threads and in order to access the headlamps it said I have to remove the front bumper as well as the front wheels? I am in college and my tools to remove the wheels are back home. Any advice? Should I just go to the stealership?

dealership is going to want about 200-250 to replace that lamp.
you do not need to remove the front bumper to fix it. the wheel does need to come off. its very easy to fix. takes about 1/2 hour total. have to take wheel off, and take off the splash guard. i got a set of mtec led angel eyes and led license plate lamps for 200 total. and changed both myself. i can send you pics if you need. |

I think I'm just going to wait and see what the dealer quotes me. If the dealer quotes me too high, I will just wait until I get back to my hometown and just do it myself, because all my tools to take out the wheel are back at my hometown. I'll keep you posted if I need any pics on how to do it.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us there are two tabs next to the arrows in the picture. you just push the tabs down with a flathead screw driver and you can pull the plastic piece off. once you remove it, it will look like this: Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

I didnt take my wheel off. I just turned it all the way to the right and took offf the wheel well liner. I knew where/how to remove everything though so I went off memory and uninstalled my bulb blindly.

This just happened to me. Dealership wants $255 to replace my right parking light. They said the part is $5.38. WTF lol. So, I'm hoping it's not that hard to do it myself. I'm going to try and turn my wheel to get up in there and replace it since I don't have the tools right now to take the wheel off since I moved into a new house. I have a 2007 238i coupe. Looks like the bulb I need accordingly to my bentley book is H8 35w.

Can't find how to get to parking lamp
Ok so I spent last weekend trying to get to my parking lamp so I could replace it. I was able to turn my wheel and get the covering off. Then I see something that looks completely different from what's in my Bentley book. My car has xenon headlights but halogen parking lamps. (at least I'm pretty sure). 2007 328i coupe
As you can see in the picture I could access my xenon light, but could not figure out how to get to my parking lamp. Since this is my right side light, I was expecting some compartment to the left of the xenon light, but could not figure it out. Can anyone point out where it should be and how to get to my parking lamp to replace it? Sorry if it's a noob question, I rarely work on my car, but try to when I can. Thanks! |

wow this literally just happened to me 2 weeks ago. i got the notification about the malfunction. i went to the dealership and the part was $50 and the labor was $150. i felt it was a total ripoff. then after about a week it miraculously started working again and i returned the part. i still have no idea what caused it to happen. good luck.

seanmerron, you have a coupe, so the parking lamp (angel eye bulb) is not in the same location as on the sedan. For the coupe, you just need to remove the plastic cover on the top of the light. You can see this in the first picture you posted, it is the triangular looking plastic piece. From there you just reach in and the bulb is right there. No need to take off the wheel/fender liner.
Nr09, same thing happened to me. But after a month of it first going out and coming back on, the bulb failed completely. So you may need to fix it in the near future. |

Ok so after pulling that cap off, I can see the parking lamp!. It looks quite difficult to pull the socket out and get to, but I'll have to play with that another day. As you can see below, the bulb has a grey tip on it. The replacement bulb that Advanced Auto gave me looks different, more like a normal bulb. They gave me a Sylvania LongLife 2825 bulb. Will this work? Or should I find the bulb with the tip on it? The Bentley book I have says the parking light I should have is H8 35 w. Maybe I can tell advanced that, or go to the dealer to buy the bulb. Any advice would be great! Thanks.

Sorry to necrobump, but I need a part number for this bulb so I can buy one and fix this problem for myself. I've seen the name PIAA tossed around, but I do not know what any of it means. Can someone please post a part number or give me a direct link to purchase?

If you dont care about having the brightest and best, these are good cheap white ones, better than stock.

I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks back on my driver side parking light. Brought it to my indy and found out that it was a lose connection rather than a blown bulb.

When you get a new bulb from the dealer, it will include that housing. Seems completely wasteful and probably explains why the bulb is so overpriced, but that's how they do it.
