Brake pads/Discs, (2006, 335D coupe)
Sorry to re write a topic which has already been discussed before but the aim is really to find out where people buy their brake pads/discs and which ones you all opt for.
I have entered my vehicle reg no. On ECP and it comes with differing results to if I were just to search for brake pads / discs using car year, make, model etc. I need Just standard pads and sensors per axel and most likely discs too. If the car is driven about 40 miles each day, and not harsh, how long would I expect for the new set of discs and pads to last on daily drives? Looking for good, low priced stuff so what is your suggestion? Car is 2006, 335D coupe. Sam ![]()

I deliberated over this one for ages when I needed pads all round for my X5. I'm a great believer in buying original parts and when I don't I generally have some small reason to regret my decision. Priced up the pads and sensors with my dealer, supply only as I got a local garage to fit, they were £280 after 10% discount. ECP I had looked at often and then a special 30% discount offer came on, got me the 4 pads and sensors incl delivery to NI which is more expensive for just over £90. It was a bit of a no brainer to save £200, went for Pagid pads and so far am totally delighted, they feel just like the original and actually are less dusty.
Go for ECP and stick to Pagid / Textar etc which are the OEM brands and you can't go wrong. My local garage fitted all 4 pads for 2 hours labour @ £25/hour = £50 , 2 hours in my dealer would have been near £200. Overall nearly £350 saved and a very reasonable full brake service completed. |

Here is my recent thread. All part numbers were correct but you may notice the clip isn't on the front pads. |

Wow! Generous ECP eh.. will order soon.. thanks.
Question though - why are there 2 options of the same damn thing, with slightly different prices. I have noticed the thickness to be only difference between the two options.

Had my MOT about 2 weeks and all passed however, they said my pads were on the brink of failure but said it'll need replacing about now, but I forgot to ask about my discs at the time. I have had a feel of the lip from the outside and there's still a little meat left but not much.. is it worth me changing all the discs given I'm changing the pads or get the most out from what's left of them and then change them in the new year some time..
My mind says do it all now and save on labour later down the line.. might attempt it myself with the help of someone experienced as itd love to know how to change these things moving forward.

Do an internet search, there's several 'how to' guides available for both discs and pads...
