Electronic oil Gauge unreliable?

I have noticed a decline of oil in the engine first is was full then full and then full. I have been told that I will be alerted when I need to add a litre of new oil.
It been at full for a few month now. I checked the electronic oil gauge today and its gone back up to full again. (I have just over the 6,000 miles.)

As anyone else experience this with their 335I engines( N54). I have read on this forum that I can expect needing to add a litre of oil every 6,000 miles so I am really surprised of this

Is it still in warranty? I would be back at the dealer telling them to check it out..... It shouldn't be soo variable IMHO.

The gauge only measures the top 1 litre of oil, so you're only talking of a variance of ~750ml. Still sounds odd though.
