I forget things like the fact that BMW SA offer the m-sport as a package on the car at purchase which means that we have probably a comparible number of people on the road in the standard and m-sport models...

But yeah - like I said, let me get these out of the way and I'll jump onto one for the standard bumbers...
Thanks I will be looking forward to this and will put my name down when we get an idea of that it will look like and when production starts

Ya, that still looks like a POS to me(not as much as the last one, but ya....), I'm sorry...........It has nothing to do with visualization skills, as I have plenty. As that was needed for my previous jobs as an AutoCAD drafter and Project Estimator. So I'm really not lacking visualization in that department........

You could have picked a better example as there are a few add on rear lips for stock bumpers.........I'm just saying. So don't get all butt hurt. lol

We're moulding

Hi All

I promised an update by yesterday - my bad. The good news is that we're moulding. Because of the fins, we've had to split the mould up into a couple pieces which has taken time, but the first piece will be ready soon and here's a picture to prove it

Hey Riaan

This one might not look wonderful as it's a test part - but trust me, the next one is yours

Should fit both - in fact, should fit all m-tech / m-sport models after '06 / early '07 (where some cutting may be necessary. I will be testing both though and modifying if necessary...

ETA: Testing of fitment early next week - if there are no issues then production can begin straight away - else a couple days or so to first correct the mould and retest.

Pricing: Not a vendor on the forum yet. As soon as the piece is ready I will register as a vendor and talk pricing. Sorry about that - rules are rules...

SOOOOOO frustrated. I spoke to the guy early yesterday morning and he said he would check with the workshop and get back to me...

I must have phoned him about 20 times during the day yesterday, emailed and sent him a text and still no response.

I just tried again this morning and "he's busy"... So I have a feeling that he's taking longer than what he said and is actively avoiding me. Either way I'm driving through there on Monday morning to deliver a stock e90 bumper for him to start work on the second diffuser for the stock e90 that I want to do so he'll have no choice but to see me!

I'm really sorry about this!

Over promise and under deliver - A classic case of the SA business mentality!

Good luck irq5, hope you get it sorted.

But I'm waiting patiently to be one of your first customers. Hopefully THE first!

Yup - meeting with some other moulders soon - hopefully in this week, and perhaps we can start getting some faster turn-around times...

Ok - I have it in writing that I will be able to test fitment this Friday, so hold thumbs for that!

On the front of looking into different moulders, I have met with one company today who would do it quite a bit more quickly but is quite litterally 10 times more expensive - there would be no way for me to cost effectively bring a product to market. I have also found another comapny who I will meet with on Thursday to discuss and perhaps I'll find a blend of the 3...

Will keep you all update either way...

Talking Fitment at last!

Success! - Well almost

So we finally got the piece onto the car to check for fitment issues and the like. We found that the lip that we mad around the edge (same as the OEM part) was too high and needed to be filed, so there is some "white" on the edges of the piece. Then the central recessed section was layed up a bit too far back, so we need to put a spacer into the mould to bring this forward. Other than that the piece fits perfectly and now we have all the slight modifications that we require to be made to the mould.

We'll hopefully crack out a new piece next week (bearing in mind Monday is a public holiday) and check it for final fitment and if all is good we can start moulding. I just want to make 100% sure that whoever buys one of these will be able to take it straight out of the packaging and fit it to the car without any issues.

Here are some pics from the morning spent fitting / aligning:

The mould itself

Marking holes for drilling

Aligning and checking for fitment issues

I'll post up some pics of the final fitment as soon as I have the piece on the car next week.
