335i m sport saloon mpg

Hi all, my first post. So total noob, soz bout that. I am sure this subject has been broached on many occasions. If so, then again i apologise.

I have just acquired a new motor. A silver 335i m sport saloon, 07, auto, 40k miles. Only done bout 100 miles so far but my mpg figure hasn't risen above 21, mainly quiet town roads and b roads, not much stop-starting. So will my mpg improve, is that bout what i can expect or have i got obc in the wrong mode, so it is displaying some info other than mpg??? ty if any replies

It's good, I don't think it will improve. My average is about 20mpg.

Since it's used, you need to reset the avg mpg counter since it is taking into account the previous driver. Idk how often it "rolls over" meaning how far you need to drive it to where avg mpg only includes miles you've put on the car, or if it will do this at all. I reset mine when I got it (forgot how - check the manual) and I still average about 20 fwiw. But I didn't buy this car for gas mileage (though it is nice to get 30mpg on longer road trips)

Hi, thanks for reply. Most of the reviews i have read have stated averages from 22s-25s mpg. So 20 mpg is an average. Doh. No big deal just thought economy was a little better than that. I am finding that most figures autotrader quote in their specs are wrong. mpg, c02 etc. ty again

Yea a lot of those estimates are pretty optimistic. I'd just reset it and see what you're getting knowing it's all based on your own driving style.

The advertised mileage figures for cars these days is very accurate actually. Most people look at them and they focus on the high number instead of looking at the range. You can hit that high number but that's driving VERY conservatively - but it can be done. If I remember correctly the 335 is rated 17 city and 26 highway. I typically average around 20 but on a long trip I've averaged as high as 30, but again, driving very conservatively. If you think about it, 17/26 is very good for a heavy, 300hp fairly fast car...

By the way you are saying "saloon", i'm not sure if you are referring to imperial or US gallons.

I get around 21.7 with mixed driving, and I have an xDrive.

Just drove 130 miles home for thanksgiving doing 85-90, and got 25.8 mpg. I never really drive that fast, but was following a train of crazy speeders!

25+ mpg is acheivable on "average" but if you drive the car like an enthusiast you'll get 20 mpg. I get 20 mpg but I can get around 27 around town if I slow down, and better on the highway.

I avg 22.8. Sometimes it creeps up to an amazing 23.0.
