12 in total over a 27 year driving period. Currently nine, first three fall next June. Got a great photo of me driving a loan car Cayman S on the M4.

Most recent this summer was a fixed camera in 'Ull. A bright orange Focus ST with a big bore exhaust had startled a cat on the other side of the road and the cat was running towards me, so I had the option of definitely hitting the cat or speeding up slightly. The former was not an option imo. 37 in a 30.

8 and therefore driving like a total wuss at the moment, though not difficult with a 1.6 tdi

5 for careless driving in 2007, stupidly misread an unfamiliar junction and shunted someone, concentrating way too much on the sat nav and not the road.

3 very annoyingly about 8 months ago for using a phone. My feeble protestations that I thought I was exempt because I had an auto fell on (very) deaf ears.

Don't think that would work Peter not that I'd try tbh.

Fixed camera in Hull. The M4 in Wales was copper on an overhead bridge and by christ those 'guns' have a long range. I'm English so no chance with him.

The other 3 last autumn were for 97 on the M180, Lincs. and the copper was very apologetic would you believe and claimed if it was down to him, he wouldn't 'do me' but as it was 97 showing on his little gun, his sergeant would give him a bollocking. So his discretion was 3 points etc. We ended up chatting about shit drivers lol and got talking about motorbikes. He said there are loads of people driving at 50 mph who are far more dangerous in his opinion than me driving 'correctly' ahem at 97 mph on a dry, sunny three laned motorway. He told me where he lived as well.

There was one time when I had the Turbo whilst driving down the M62 at my usual velocity, I spotted in the distance behind me what looked like a white Volvo with its headlights on, so slowed down and sure enough was the police in a V70. They obviously weren't out to do speeding motorists at that point or the fact I'd spotted him but as they passed me, I glanced sideways and looked at the copper in the passenger seat who 'wagged' his finger at me then grinned. Phew!!

I see tone has added the zero points poll.

I always drive like a granny of course. Only ever do 100+on private roads and Germany.

The M180 is probably the quietest motorway in the UK, it is easy to creep above the speed limit. Shame the copper couldn't use his discretion and just dish out a bollocking, how the bloody hell is the Sgt going to find out what reading was on his hairdryer?
