driving to and from Las Vegas

Has anybody ever driven back from Las Vegas to SoCal using the 15, to 215, to 515, to 95, to 40, and then back onto the 15? I ask because there was really bad traffic leaving Las Vegas this weekend and this showed to be alt route but have never driven it so I was wondering if anybody ever has driven it and if it would have been any faster. At one point, Google maps said it was backed up for almost 8.5 hours on the 15 and this route would have bypassed a lot of where the traffic was located.

The backup when I've gone is usually in one area, forgot where, I think near the Agriculture Check. We've gotten off the 15 and taken the road that runs parallel to it "Yermo Rd." until the traffic is gone and then hop back on. Don't know about your route though.

yup. I know that side road as well. It runs a good distance if you know that there's traffic at the check point. Unfortunately, traffic this weekend was backed up leaving Las Vegas going to Primm, at Baker, at Barstow, at Victorville and some other totally random areas between Baker and Barstow. It was really bad traffic.

I hate Vegas traffic. I always try to travel on off days. Drive in on Thursday and/or leave on Monday.

Dang, that's a lot of time to be spending in Vegas. We can only do two days, max three days of Vegas at any one time. Anymore and we need a vacation from the "vacation" in Vegas.

Agreed ^ that's a long time. Haha

Been fortunate enough to never be stuck in the dread Vegas traffic. Last went on a Thursday afternoon to Sat. afternoon and it was great. No traffic

Hey, I drove from I-15 to LA last Sunday. Traffic was backed up for 25 miles right when I got out of vegas on the I-15 so I took Sloan exit turned left to the old Las Vegas Road 604. Warning...this road isn't maintained so its bad but its worth it. I was going about 70-80 without any problems. I drove that down to Nevada Landing then I asked some motorcyclist there about the road and if it goes to California. They said yes so I took it down to premium outlets. However, we didn't know the road conditions so it was pretty bad. Less than half way there it turned into a dirt road and it was off the GPS. It was pretty fun to drive through but I recommend you use a SUV and not a sedan.
