driving in the truck lane on the 15 to and from vegas

Does anybody know if it's legal to drive a car in the truck lane on the 15 as you're driving to and from Las Vegas? You'll normally see these lanes when driving up a mountain so the semi-trucks can slowly drive up without holding up traffic. It gives them a lane all to themselves. In some instances where a downhill grade is steep, there will also be a truck lane.

i drove out 2 weeks ago... they have the truck lane with a solid white line even on some flat stretches... I was rocking it pretty hard mostly for passing, but id stay in it for a couple miles then move out for a bit... i also had a valentine 1 which told me about any LE within a couple miles which is very very very nice to have on drives like that where youre kinda pushing it... its also nice to find another sports car to attack the traffic with and you can trade off leading...

I tend to stay out of it and use it only for passing. I have an escort redline so it warns me from pretty far out of any LEOs lurking around. Be careful on downhill grades. I see LEOs hiding behind dirt hills so they are shooting radar at you after you pass. You will get a warning but just make sure you are following someone.

I drove that last week. IIRC it's technically a lane for 'slow vehicles.' (not truck specific) So if your going slower than the regularly flowing traffic it probably IS legal.

With that said, I smoked a bunch of dumb left lane hoggers with it anyways. (driving a minivan)

Ya they pretty much tend to do whatever they want. I was going through Valencia and the CHP was going 100+ on the shoulder to pass a line of semis to catch up to a speeder. One of the trucks swerved out a bit to much into the shoulder and the CHP ended up on the dirt.... CHP didnt slow down one bit.

+1
its for slow moving vehicles, not for passing and speeding. although i haven't really seen anyone get pulled over from those lanes.
