Exclamation 2007 335i steering rack pipe end size?

Hi I messed up the threads on one of the pipes connected to the steering rack. Does anyone know what size fitting this is?? I can't seem to find a match for it in anything I got. I plan to put an insert or rethread it but I dont know the size and was hoping someone here could share that's been through this before....

Just measure the diameter (size) and thread pitch of the male fitting on pipe side. I've taken that fitting off before, it's either 6, 8, or 10MM. I'd guess 8MM. Standard thread pitch for 8MM is 1.25, but I checked on a hydraulic hose website and it looks like the 8M and 10M thread pitch for flared pipe fittings are both 1.0 thread pitch.

Good luck.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission.

thank you for checking on that for me, I do appreciate it alot! I'll check the hardware store tomorrow for a 8mm and a 10mm 1.0 thread pitch. Thanks!

I bought a 10mm tap today, and it was too small. I forgot to add that it's for a 2007 335i with active steering..

I was guessing on the size and thread type. You need to measure the male side flange nut. To chase the threads you'd need a bottom-end tap. I doubt you'd find it at a hardware store. If this is beyond your capability, you should remove the rack and take it to an automotive machine shop. They can either chase the female threads or install a heilcoil.
