Mine should arrive Tuesday and hopefully I'll get em on on Wednesday. This year at track days I'll be using these rotors in the front and stock in the back with Performance Friction PFC01 pads all the way around. First track day is Feb 28th so I'll know pretty soon how they perform.
EDIT, they showed up last night and look awesome! Quality looks very good. Will hopefully get em on tonight and hopefully the rain stays away for my track day on Monday. Last edited by SpiralOut; 02-23-2011 at 10:35 AM. |

Went to track yesterday and they performed awesome. My friend has a Z06 and has been doing HPDE's for a while and he was very impressed when he rode with during one session. They were very consistent from the beginning of the session to the end. This combined with my move to the Nitto NT01's took about 10 seconds off my lap times. Now getting running about 2:20 around VIR full which is pretty good for a 335 I think.

Combined with high grip R-comps or Slicks is where the floating discs really shine, not only does it let you brake harder, longer, and more consistent, it let's you take full advantage of the R-comp's additional grip by dissipating all that heat in a more manageable way. I remember the first time I ran with R-Comps on "track pads" the result wasn't pretty. I'd have brake for about half a dozen laps, and then all of a sudden they'd go away despite it being "track" pads. With R-Comps speed is increase all around and therefore there's a ton more heat to dissipate.

You'll find that pad preferences are like ssholes. Everyone's got one. The fact of the matter is, when you get to the upper echelon of track pads, they all do what they're advertised to do. The main difference will be their bite and release characteristics, initial torque, and their pedal consistency. And those are the little nitty gritty details that will have one person prefer one brand over the other, because EVERYONE brakes differently. For example, I have a heavy foot when it comes to braking. Not the smoothest of operators when it comes to the middle pedal. So between the XR-3 (high initial bite, quick release, high consistent torque) and the DTC-60 (moderate initial bite, smooth release characteristics, consistent and linear torque), the DTC-60 was a slightly better pad for my particular driving "style." However, my friend loves the Cobalt because he's super smooth with the braking and the high initial torque allow him to rapidly slow down on the beginning of the braking and thus he can afford to brake later, swears by the Cobalt. However all my friends who club races and are far more senior than I am in terms of experience all swore by PFCs, even if they don't get sponsorship from them. They're all happy to PAY full retail for PFCs. So my recommendation is, if you haven't found a set of pads you LOVE? Try out different pads. If you're happy with the result so far? Why not stick with it?

These are great. The link in my sig has a review of the 135i/BMW Performance front brake.
