Help With Buying Non-rft Tires!
2006 330i (e90)
Im sick of these run flats - THEY ARE COMPLETE GARBAGE - My tires are making a loud airplane noise which increases with speed - its only from the back. 1. Does this mean my tires are warped or could it possibly be something else? If the problem is in fact my tires I plan on buying 4 new non-RFT tires. 2.What are the best non-RFT tires to purchase. 3. Lastly, I was wondering if there will be a problem with my tire pressure sensors. - Will I need to buy 4 new tire pressure sensors? |

2.) I don't know about the "best" since that's subjective, but I have Continental Extreme Contact tires and love them. They're a lot quieter.
3.) The 2006 e90 does not use TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), but an older system called FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) that can detect the rotational speed difference when a tire loses pressure. So no, you won't have a problem mounting non-runflat tires. (I also have a 2006 330i w/ Sport Package) As your location shows as NY, I would probably suggest a set of winter wheels/tires as well. I have the Continental Extreme Contact DWS all-seasons, but use Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60's in the winter. Night and day difference. |

Live near Cleveland, OH so winters are bad here as well, for summer I use 18" Continental Extreme DWS, which was ok in the light snow, but as soon as the snow came down, I switched over to a dedicated set of snow tires (16")
Non-RFT makes a big difference for me. |

Difference like Day and Night RFT compared to None-RFT (only have my winter set on now Michelin ICE 225/40/18 all four corners). My summer stock wheels will get new Non-RFT before the stock wheels go back on the car. It will be Michelin or Continental High Performance Non-RFT. ![]()
