Therefore weight has nothing to do with how fast your car is moving, when its going 100 mph. I feel dumber for having read your posts. Is there a block button on this forum because I haven't found one.....

Why don't you let Euro answer it? You don't even know what Euro and I are talking about right now so be patient.

Again Euro, what mph gain do you estimate a 100 lbs drop will have for a 1/4 mile run?

Do u not understand English ? I said roughly 100lbs will shave off a tenth of a second on a quarter mile run . I don't know what you or I run in a quarter mile . I didnt answer you cuz what you asked doesn't make sense . It's too vague of a question .

A 1/4 mile run can also be measured by mph just like the test that guy did. Is it clear now?

Still too vague , what about his 60' times , reaction time , weather , shifting points and reactions . Many variables come into play like humidity , tire traction etc . I know how a 1/4 can be measured. Is it clear to you know ? And it wasn't a quarter mile n00b , did you go to that street in person and measure ? Nope you didnt . End of story

Let me try a different question, what is the equivalent of HP gain for every 100 lbs weight drop for a 328?

So they say 10hp per 100lbs .. It's not actuall power being created tho, it's more so getting to point B faster .. So that's what they say ..

I heard it was 15 hp at the wheels, it depends on the total weight of the car too, I think your number is for a 4,000 lbs car, mine is for a 3,000 lbs car.

Do you agree?

if car A is 10k pounds and car B is 2k pounds , X amount shaved off equals Z amount Regardless of the weight of the car . And no , it's not @ the wheels lol cuz your not making power , your car is reacting to the weight reduction and it's not 15hp per 100lbs , but I know what your trying to say .

Of course the lighter the car to begin with, the same additional weight drop will have more impact, but we will use your 10hp number.

We know we can drop the weight at the wheels to be the equivalent of up to 300lbs, we also know stock for stock, the 328 is 230 lbs less than a 335. Put the two together, the 328 has the equivalent of an added 50 hp.

micah_675 told us with the kind of mods I mentioned he could bring the stock 328 hp up to as many as 265 hp, add 50 you get to the level of a STOCK 335.

Does that make sense?

I know what you have been saying , the problem like I told you before is the powerband and gearing . Example car A makes 100whp @ 3k rpms and car B mKes 100whp @ 2k rpms . Also depends how tall or short the gears are as well ... Shorther gears will get you flying thru your powerband . Also its important to transfer the power to the ground from the wheels so being super light isn't always the best option as well . I know what you are trying to compare and say but our cars would need some really good power @ wheels and good weight reduction to be neck to neck with a stock 335 .

The powerband on our 328s are not bad at all, flat peak hp curve, starts at very low RPM, certainly better than the Japanese ones. Why I skipped G37 and went with the 328i.

I don't recall the 335 powerband very different than the 328's though, I know 335is can get peak hp at lower RPM like 1750.

As far as gear ratio, how much difference are we talking about? Neither models have LSD.

Well I don't know specifics on either cars cuz I have not looked into them but I'm assuming a twin turbo is gonna respond faster due to turbos spooling very fast and the trq curve will be instant And you can brake boost as well , I'm just speaking from experience of turbo cars but not particulary the 335 . Again as far as gears I don't know , and a LSD is not a gear In the trans. I was pointing out major factors to look into as well rather then just power/weight ratio as powerband and gearing is very important Too ..

You are right about torque curve, 355i actually has more quick instant boost than 335is, the 335i gets the peak boost at 1200 RPM.

The 328i starts to peak at 2750 RPM, although I don't know how the PBX map3 might impact the boost, we know it is 100% mapping, meaning half the time to reach peak torque compared to stock.

I missed this point of yours. It is a very good point. We know from experience that when a 335 does 0-60 it should start in the 2nd gear simply because the 1st gear will transfer too much power to the wheels to cause wheel spin. No such issue with 328i so for 328i it can actually take the advantage of the full range gears.

Would losing enough weight at the wheels also cause the 328i wheels to spin?

328 will be fine , worse case scenario is running full blown Mickies aka race slicks . But with the mods currently out there street tire is perfectly fine . Only way I can see issues for a 328 is for 1. Nos or 2. Turbo/supercharger setup .

The most extreme mod I can see doing on my 328 will be the manifold swap and tune, if one has to go the above two, might as well get a 335. Just my own view, not in anyway saying those who want to do the above two should not do them. Since BMW will use a higher powered I6 in the new gen NA 3 (F30), it will be interesting to see how it will react to the mods and tunes.

Yup , i personally feel if your gonna apply NOS or a supercharger your better off spending the extra money on a 335 and get better power for the price etc.

Merry Christmas to you too, just pointing out you did not understand what he was trying to say, that's all.
