So your more likey to get GBS than win the jackpot? lol i was being facetious Carl.

1 in 100,000 actually means if all of the population of the uk 56,000,000 had the jab that 560 people would get GBS, thats pretty good odds mate, that you WONT get it.

Stop worrying and protect yourself.

So how long ago did he develop it?! What Vaccines did he have and when did the GBS develop?

Has he ever had any chest dieses or flu before, that also can cause it.

Just been doing some more reading on GBS. It can be causedby ANY virus at ANY TIME, Cold flu, chest infections whatever.

Also after any operation or flu like the cases we have seen. This also includes ANY vaccination not just Influenza Vaccines.

I've also read that most victims should make a recovery.

Its weighing it all up. Is the likleyhood of one catching the flu and also dying of it bigger than developing GBS from the Vaccine.

Lets not forget, catch the flu and recover you could still develp GBS.

Carlos, are you not over analysing it mate, the chance of dying off flu is extremely low but also the chance of getting this other thing you mention (I've never heard of it until you posted it) is also pretty low. Everything in life has risks. If your card is marked then your card is marked. I'd toss a coin mate.

I was forced to play the odd's roulette last year and lost big time so 1 in 1,000,000 or 1 in 30 means the same to me these days - it could always be YOU who is the ONE.

Ha ha, didn't mean to shit you up or anything, but sometimes you need to just go with your instinct mate. No matter how much reading, research, asking medical professionals, you do no-one can give you the answer you're looking for.

I know it's a tough decision but sometimes you get to a stage where you just go round and round in circles.

Go with your gut; you'll be reet .

You don't wanna know mate, family related, moving on though and looking to the future . Just gives you a different perspective to life and decisions that need to be made.

If it helps my Daughter (age 3.5) is having her Flu jab next week. She was supposed to have the Swine Flu one last year but kept getting ill when she was supposed to have it and never actually managed to get it.

Just heard that a 38 year old Bournemouth man died from flu over Xmas. He apparently had no underlying health problems. It is a bit of a worry despite the very low odds.

At least if you have Asthma or some other risk factor you can get the vaccine. The rest of us just have to take the (low) risk and hope that we don't get struck down.

Death is quite an underlying health problem.

Wife being flu jabbed tomorrow as she's now on 36 weeks pregnant.

Apart from flu obviously!

Make sure that she washes her hands often and stays away from crowded places for the next 10 days until it becomes effective.

Wifey got the swine flu jab last year, 4 weeks before she was due with Alex.

A year on and Alex seems to have got some of the symptoms of swine flu - huge temp and cough out of nowhere yesterday. So far he is coping ok with it and eating/drinking well....
