Which is better.. V1 or Escort 9500ci

I am in the middle of deciding which radar detector/jammer unit i should get..I have been going through my re- and i have come to the conclusion that other have as well, That for the most part, it is not fair to compare one and the other due to it's price differential and it's products offerings... My father didn't get me anything for Christmas and asked what i wanted i figure their is no budget for which type of radar as he asked just to buy it so please tell me which one i should get and if you sincerely think the 9500ci is better than the v1 or vise versa please back your claim...

Please do not use the windshield mounting and hard wiring options as a valid reason i rather would have valid performance results and actual incidents rather than vague conclusion.

If anyone else has either, please spill your stores and do the jammer's actually work with the modern day lasers and situations it has helped...

I am in New York so these copper's trying to catch me

Thank you,

Dude--

I have had my valentine ONE for seriously like 8 years and I have never, ever gotten a speeding ticket.. YES IM KNOCKING ON ALLL KINDS OF WOOD NOW that ive made that statement. I drive on I-95 to and from work ( 25 miles one way) and not that I think im on a race track, but having cars like ours- its fun to open up sometimes..ya digg?

ANYWAY-- Youre going to find MANY, MANY websites telling you about the passport, the escort, the bel.. K40.. and while theyre all good in their respective right, I AM a HUGE believer in the Valentine One. I seriously KNOW for a fact of thousands and thousands of dollars in tickets i would've gotten if i didnt have it. God only knows about the times it saved me without me knowing. Alot of people say its too sensitive-- well i rather my detector be too sensitive then not sensitive enough...
I know the others have all kinds of little neat gadgets here and there...But i say EFF the BS....... All you need is for it to be sensitive for KA and Laser band---and know what direction its coming from and you're good. Thats exactly what the V1 does. Those little arrows may seem stupid, BUT TRUST ME... when ur doing 110 on the highway and all of sudden u hear it start making noise, looking at the arrow to see what direction the signal is coming from is amazing... vs. being like uhhh damn where is the cop?? anyway man.. i can go on and on and on but at the end of the day its your choice. If i were in your shoes, V1 all the way. I am extremely picky with stuff that i buy ( especially stuff like this)-- i do ALLLLLLL kinds of research. While the V1 is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye- it does its job..hands down. If i had to buy a radar again-- i would buy this one again without thinking twice.
Just a FYI--Mike Valentine started Cincinnati Microwave (Escort and Passport), and left them in the dust to start his own company which makes the Valentine1 .......... Go with the innovator, not the duplicator ..

This is MY opinion.. my 0.02. ... nothing more- nothing less. deucesss!

Go read posts on radardetector.net. I have the escort 9500ix which is a windshield mount that has GPS and can lockout false signals. I do mostly city driving. If I did mostly highway I would use a V1 or an escort Redline.

i used to have a passport and got a few tickets with it..

None in the last year i've had the V1. The arrows make a difference, once you have them you won't know how you ever live without them.

is this like the MT vs AT thread?

Anyways, I have the 9500ix and have always avoided the po-po...

If I wanted to hang a brick from my window I'd get a V1, but regardless I hear they are just as good.

I've had the Cobras and Escorts before when I was 16, never got a ticket but came close, but now I have the V1 and I love it! I only had it for about 5 months but I took a fee trips from PA to OH about 110 miles and cops sit on the turnpikes and the thru-traffic all the time. My V1 has saved my ass from a total of 4 cops on 2 trips. 2 of them were hiding behind the rest cut out behind the trees so you couldn't see them until you passed. They both had radars mounted on the back driver side windshield (big aluminum box looking thing), The V1 caught onto him/her about 3/4 of a mile away each time. I was pretty amazed. Also the V1 has a magnesium housing so if you are taking a trip to or through a state where radar detectors are illeagle the cops can't detect them with their gadget (forget what it is called)

I have the 9500CI installed on my 335i. There are plenty of comparison test between the V1 and 9500ci. The 9500ci show to out perform and is more reliable than the V1. Radar Roy recommends the 9500ci over the Z1.

I have had my 9500ci for 6 months and is the best investment I have ever made and it has already paid off for itself.

Keep in mind one thing though. When you are alerted that you are being hit with a laser adjust your speed immediately to the speed limit then disable the shifter so officer can get a reading to avoid "being pulled over and harrased"

On the 9500ci to disable the laser shifter all you have to do is hit the center (mute) button twice, the laser shifter is disabled for 1 min and then automatically turns itself back on.

The 9500ci gives you all around protection on the vehicle, voice and GPS assist with red light and speed light cameras and its able to learn and filter out false signals.

The 9500ci gives you both radar detection and laser shifting protection (ie Laser Jaming), plus GPS and voice coordination

V1 ftw. Especially if you are doing a lot of driving on the interstate. There is no matching the v1

If you want to jam laser get a laser jammer. Not a radar detector.

The 9500 is not as good (and doesn't try to be) at laser jamming as the LI - the diodes used in the LI are military-grade and hugely expensive.

The V1 goes off a lot.

The citations of Radar Roy are worth reading. The technology in the 9500ci and the GPS implementation would give it the nod in my mind.

I'm also really disappointed that the V1 looks like it was designed in 1980 and has vacuum tubes inside, but that wasn't your question

At least we don't seem to see Radarqueen around these conversations any more.

I really think a better comparo would be the 9500ix to the V1. I don't think that any portable is going to outshine a 9500ci.

the V1 is the most "chatty" of the high-end detectors, but I've owned one for almost 5 years and haven't had a speeding ticket yet

I love my V1. Driven cross country twice with it. PHX to LA. PHX to Vegas. Vegas to LA. Its seen a lot of highway. I do mostly highway driving and dont think I'd purchase anything else. The only thing that almost sold me on the other unit was the GPS, and only because it could save photo speed traps on my local highways. They are gone now and I dont care to much about the GPS.

In full logic mode the detector isn't too overly zealous with false signals. But you can never be to careful. How you interpret the signal and what you decide to do is more important than the detector it self. I find that the arrows help me make a better decision.

My friend has a V1 in his 535i and it has saved him many times. It's a great radar but if you're driving in a place that's highly populated, you should think about the 9500ix. I have a 9500ix and between that and the V1, you can't go wrong with the Passport. It saves the false alarms and it keeps quiet when it should, and the range is awesome. The 9500ci is a legitimate radar, the only thing that held me back from that was the price.

So when I had to choose, I saw it like this:

V1 + Metro Areas = LOTS of noise

9500ci + Price = Broke

9500ix = The one

But IMO, 9500ci if you have the mula!

The gps features on the 9500 I believe is what sets the 2 apart, I have had several escort detectors and fell in love with the technology behind the 9500, I think they are both great detectors and if it were still the 8500 would say go v1, but since the 9500 came out I would put it in a different category due to the extra features, I just went to the IQ right before xmas and it is a very nice unit, but bulky and will be trading it back to my wife a getting that dinavin thing as soon as it looks like the kinks are worked out. The best feature that the escort has is the speed cam warnings and data base, the over speed limit alert and the fact that when it goes off it displays your speed so you dont have to take your eyes all over the place while looking for the smokey. My 2 cents... also I have recieved 2 tickets while owning an escort which were both my fault, detector went off, but once i ignored it, the other I had the volume turned all the way down and did notice till it was 88 in 55 too late
