Well we went to the Apple store yesterday evening, had a play with an imac and a chat with one of the guys in the shop, and ended up buying one! They were doing an offer on a wireless printer which means you basically get it for free, so got that also.

Got it up and running easily and have managed to transfer our music and photos over but need to reorganise them now.

Pleased with it so far and it is definitely nicer to look at than our old pc! Looking forward to getting better acquainted with it...

Thanks, will do.

Just a minor issue... Having transfered our itunes over, itunes now thinks it is registered on three computers where it should only be two as we have not deregistered our ould one yet. Would it count our external hard drive as another computer?

Also I have been told by a mate that it is better to leave it in sleep mode rather than turn it off as it is not good to keep turning it on and off - Sounds like bollox to me..

You mentioned one of your original requirements was for gaming but you won't get many top titles on a Mac.

For people talking about more than 4Gb on a PC or "adding some later" Dave mentioned that there is absolutely no point in having more than 3Gb on a 32-bit Windows system and he's absolutely right.

I think 64-bit windows is fine for home use but if you play a lot of games I'd stick with 32-bit for now.

The other unanswered question was to do with small form-factor PCs. Nothing wrong with those but as they only take low-profile cards you're stuck if you want a powerful video card demanded by today's games.

Sorry, yes my fault. Given your requirements the Mac is well suited.
