Yah i saw those tools. Thanks for the info Clairvoyant. Btw, can you really see into the future? I need some investment advice

Anyone here changed the suspension on their cars? I find it slightly wobbly. Small divets in the road can send the car off course if you dont grip the steering tight.

The run flats probably dont help the car much either.

Any thoughts on how to improve the handeling and the responsivenes?

Investment is the science of explaining tomorrow why the predictions you made yesterday didn't come true today.

Handling and responsiveness will beat comfort in this case:
-Koni yellow
-Strut brace
-Sway bar
-Chassis brace

Congrats!
I plan to drive my E90 through the winter with a decent set of winter tires. I imagine I'll try to avoid driving it on heavy snow days.
With your folding hard top I'm sure by all accounts it will be the same, except you will have the traction benefit of a little more weight.

Which model E93 are you getting?

I haven't seen your R8 Spyder, sounds super sweet and would be great to see one day.

I bet the roof will be very easy to wash. I usually hand was my cars on days in the winter that pop over 3C or if more urgent I've been known to hand wash in the garage.

With any convertible, just watch for fallen ice and snow during the January thaw or any unusual warm days.
I've seen those materials rip due to heavy snow and ice (parked outside or under eavesdrops)

Thanks Phas,
I was just at the repair shop today. New parts have been ordered and the work will be underway when they arrive.

I won't be brining my M out to any meets in the near future, but I will again in December, and then I'll have my winter wheels on to mix it up a bit.

That seriously sucks, man. I know exactly how are you feeling. I had similar experience last year when a 16-year old kid T-boned me in an intersection on my green light. Even though it wasn't my fault, I felt terrible that I had to depart from my, at that time, G35 for more than a month. But, the most important thing is that you are OK. I am sure that shop will do good job with the car.

Otto's collision center versus camco collision center

Hi guys,
Unfortunately, I got this dent on the driver side door (more towards the bottom) last weekend. I wanted to get it fixed up (already touched up with touch up paint) so I called Elite and Otto's BMW. Elite recommended Camco Collision/Repair center (beside camco acura) and Otto said they have their own near carling/kirkwood as well. So I ended up with two quotes which were about $200 difference in price (Otto's was cheaper).

I was trying to figure out what was different.

Camco said they would have to sand a small area down, pull off the side mirror and handle, create a lot of small little dents because when a dent occurs the metal is stretched and it needs to do this to tighten it back up, putty it, paint the area, and then apply a clear coat over the full door.

Otto's said they would sand it down, pull off the side mirrow and handle, push the dent back out from the inside, paint the area, and then apply a clear coat over the full door.

So in the end, sounded like Camco had the extra step of adding small dents to straighten the door where the dent it is but the Otto guy didn't say anything about this. So I'm not sure who to believe here? The guy at Camco did look more experienced (older gentlemen) and the Otto's shop looked fairly new (no shuttle service or loaner). Any of you guys here had prior experience with dents and/or the shops themselves? They said it would start to rust quicker if I didn't fix it but not sure if this is just to get me to do the work order (I did touch up the scratch with touch up paint/clear coat).

Thanks.

Just an FYI, Otto's has been in the body shop business for 20+ years, but they just opened that new facility in the last couple weeks or months. Their old shop was behind the Subaru dealer which Otto's also owns in Westboro. BMW mandated that dealer shops must have state of the art equipment, hence the moce.

I've had excellent work done by them and my boss's aluminum hood was repainted with excellent results as well. Personally, I would think BMW would know best how to paint a BMW.

My M is at Camco.
Had I a better sales experience when I visited Otto's I would be equally happy with Otto's body shop bringing my car back to former glory.

Thanks guys for the info. I wasn't aware of whether that Otto's collision center was the same one from the one near the Subaru dealer. Sounds like they are probably reliable to bring my car back to it's original form

ns2000X: what when wrong with your sales experience? I also did not have a good sales experience there so ended up buying at Elite.

My experience was just the opposite, ended up getting my 550 from Ottos. Nothing really bad, just could not get some answers I was looking for and Ottos offered a better price as well.

For me it was the opposite. I guess it depends who you end up getting as a sale rep. In my case, I had asked what they had available and the salesperson gave me info on a few inventory 328xi. I took a look at the specs and said I was not interested in the colors. Their response was, well do you want a deal or not? I was like woooh, all I was asking for was what they had in stock and to me it sounded just rude like they just assumed I didn't have the money for the car. That pissed me off so I went to Elite and ended up getting a much better sale rep. Also ended up referring a friend their too so they lost two sales in month.
