E30 3rd gear data log

FBO. Put in 4 gal e85 and 10-11ish gal 93. Attached is the log on e30 map. What bothers me is the Timing Cor. of -6.75 Should I switch back to Stage2+FMIC?

TIA.

Overall this log appears to showcase, your tune is a little too aggressive. Rule of thumb, 3.38 correction across three cyl. or less is OK. Trying putting in 5 gallons of E85 pump and top off with 93. this will give you about E32. your first blend was E29 assuming you topped it off with 93 when you put in the 10-11 gallons. its tough to know the correct blends by the supplier, could be E70 - E85.

regarding your timing corr. at -6.75, i was seeing this when my coil was bad. If you are not getting misfires, then you may soon. I did. Run the new blend and take a look at your corrections. if your cyl 2 is still giving you fits, swap coil and see if the corrections follow. If it follows then you know its the coil.

when was the last time you changed your plugs?

your LPFP looked OK. Don't want to drop below ~50

EDIT:

Oh and its normal to see high correction post shift. no worries there.

Reset Data Log Lists. We want to see your Pedal Pos. and Throttle Pos. I don't know when you hit WOT and if you have any throttle closures.

Wow...thank you so much for your extremely fast response!

Plugs were changed 2 days ago. Walnut blasting was done same day also. I have 60k+.

I had a little more than half tank so I assume that was 8.5 93 gal. I then put in 4 gal e85 and 3 gal 93, in that order. Didn't do like what you said.

Thanks again and will report back result next weekend with all of your suggestions.

Yeah I did launch from 2nd gear, AT+Alpina flash. It was first try so I'm sure with practicing will be better. I was happy with the result though. Just was curiosity for the most part. Thanks again.

Thanks!

Cobb will reset before installing the new map, just proceed with the install when asked. Bought my car used and didn't know it was flashed already, Cobb detected previous install. Just hit continue

Took my car to DEQ for emission testing with the COBB flash installed. The VIN was not my VIN on my MSD80? Doesn't the AP store the VIN? Why would I have the VIN from COBB's test car on my car. Sloppy if you ask me.

I have seen this before and I am not familiar with it. may have been you before? I am not sure what the (i) is next too all the log columns. Anyone know?

you got some throttle closures around ~4100, looks like due to overboost. Other members on here can help you clear that up. Other than that looks good. bump up to Agg bro! you got 93.

oh and no need to redline like that, 6500 - 6700 is good enough. Power drops after ~6200 or so.

Silly me forgot to turn off traction control for that log. Could have caused the throttle closures.

Thanks, I won't take it all the way to redline next time . Flashing to aggressive this evening, and will take another log.

-3, -6, -9 timing corrections cruising around ?

Currently running a mildly aggressive E20 map with 2.5 gal E85 balance 93 octane per tank.
Just wondering if anyone is experiencing this:
During WOT runs, 2000 to 6500 rpm, no timing corrections.

But cruising around town, see sometimes -3, -6, and -9 timing corrections, at around 2000 rpm in one cylinder.... Usually cylinder 1 in my case....

Any idea what's going on?

Alright, here is my second data-log. This is running stage 1 aggressive, 93 octane, traction control completely off. Based off what I know so far, car isn't running as well according to the log but it still feels just fine driving.

At partial throttle timing corrections are totally fine.

Hmmm... I would think all this "knocking" could potentially damage the cylinder, even at partial throttle. I was wondering if it's a sign of a coil going bad? Also, I don't get any fault codes, so apparently I haven't misfired (yet).

BTW- To get a "global average" of the timing correction frequency per cylinder I'll do a ca. 10 minute log while driving home from work...lots a varied driving styles...stop and go, WOT, etc. Then I'll find the average of each cylinder's timing correction by opening the log file in Excel. For me, cylinder 1's timing corrections are listed in column L, so the average for 14,486 data points (about 10 minutes) collected during the run is calculated as "=sum(L2:L14587)/14586". I do the same for cylinders 2-6, stored in columns M-Q, respectively. My averages have been something like -0.06, -0.04, -0.01, -0.02, 0.00, -0.04, respectively, for cylinders 1-6. Cylinder 1 always seems to be the worse. Less E85 makes these numbers higher (more knocking presumably for lower octane). Indeed, I can surpress most of these partial throttle timing corrections with more E85, like another gallon per tank. I suppose I can do the Cobb coil switch test. But that takes like an hour... So as long as I don't get any misfire codes I probably don't need to change coils? (I'm at 37,000 miles with new plugs about 6,000 miles ago.) Thanks in advance for everyone's comments.

The DME uses small corrections when cruising, you are not doing any damage to your motor. For that matter even under WOT, as long as you aren't seeing large corrections across multiple cylinders, you're probably OK on that front. Timing corrections happen, the DME is extremely sensitive to the conditions. If you are logging clean at WOT and not throwing any codes, your car is fine.

You're running an AP? I thought you were a single turbo guy?

Regardless, did you have a previous tune? Did you ignore the message about detecting another tune and loss of data? We absolutely keep the vin intact while tuned. Of course its recommended to uninstall if you're going for an inspection or visiting the dealer. We do not set readiness codes, so inspection would likely be an issue anyway (unless they only read vin and DTCs I guess).

Feel free to contact me or our techs if you have any questions about our process.
