I did the deal on my boss's old CL AMG (the one that I now have) and the previous owner was New Zeland golfer Michael Campbell. The guy selling on his behalf had the car up for about £5k more than book, just because of this. It took some lengthy (and quite heated) debate before he saw sense and compromised on his price; his assertion was that because a professional sports person (even one as obscure as this) had owned the car it had to be worth x amount more. When I asked him to explain what value the name Michael Campbell on the V5 bought he couldn't. He just kept saying "It does". When I explained by boss didn't actually give a fuck who the last owner was and that, when it came to sell, the new owner would have my boss's name as the former keeper and not that of Michael Campbell he finally twigged it's all but worthless - as soon as that 'special' person is wiped off the V5, it's just another car.

Looks lovely. Low mileage and one owner is good. Should be priced accordingly for that!! Some numpty will buy it OTT cuz of JB though!

Is it me, or does the car no longer have the JB05 BAR plate that they're quoting as adding to it's value (cough
 )?Pretty much agree with everyone else tbh, all you'll have to sell when the time comes will be photos and promises - aside from a rather nice car  . |
