Updated iDrive for Week 10?

Does anyone know if the E90 (Week 10 Prod) will get the updated iDrive and graphics that the 5 series is getting?

(I know we will get the prog. buttons and chrome volume knob.)

What are the updates? Is there a link to any specifics on it?

Just something I read in BMWCar magazine:-

The still somewhat controversial iDrive has been further refined - not only is there 'enhanced menu guidance and refined graphics', but there are also the eight 'favourite' buttons under the radio display (as seen in the X5 and 335i Convertible) which can be pre-programmed with telephone numbers, radio stations or sat-nav destinations.

Just hoping that the E90 gets the same.

Should be the same system. Wouldn't make sense to have multiple systems anyway, for cost and logistic reasons.

Sorry, forgot to mention the article was talking about the 5 Series. Would that make any difference or are iDrives the same for all BMW's?

I'm not certain, but I think iDrive is the same for all but the 7 Series. Of course, menu options and functions depend on the vehicle and it's available functions, etc.

Refined graphics?? What do they mean by that? I don't care about the 8 favorite buttons, but better graphics would be a must!
Do they mean resolution??

I am wondering if it is 8 buttons (like the photo above) or is it 6 buttons (like the photo below)

This photo was taken from someone who was at the auto show on the new E93 which shows 6 preset buttons with FM/AM being the 7th button and mode being the 8th button (what is mode for?)
If it's like this on the E93 wouldn't this appear on the E90 and E92 in March 2007 & on..

For US cars, at least, it's 6 buttons plus AM/FM, Mode. The is per pictures in various brochures. Note that the photo showing buttons 1-8 is in a European brochure.

I noticed there is a eject button on the DVD slot, what would happen if a person accidently hit eject button thinking they were ejecting a CD instead, would that mess up the Nav would you have to go to the dealer if that happened? Just curious.

You would just re-insert the DVD. At worst there might be an initialization period.

I would really be interested to know if the 335s coming out with the added buttons will have the new map graphics. When I test drove the car, these seemed rather outdated compared with other navigation systems.

I don't currently have iDrive, so no basis for comparison. I would hope though that if they have improved the system at the graphics level and / or performance level that the 3 Series would benefit.
