What are the advantages of a charge pipe??

I was looking for some info on charge pipes. What are the advantages of having an aftermarket charge pipe? What diameter is being used on the current aftermarket units available? Is there any performance gains?

Get ER it's 3" and I have noticed better throttle response.

Less restriction and usually better flow.

The only advantage is it won't pop off under boost like the stock charge pipes do. But if your stock charge pipe doesn't pop off, it's a waste of money IMO.

Not much of a mentionable improvement.... Biggest use for a CP is for slightly better throttle response and mostly n20/methanol injection bungs. Then of course for BOV's etc for those of us that like cosmetic shit :P

With the FI engine, the only substantial benefit is gaining the ability to put on your choice of DVs or BOV, and having bungs for methanol/nitrous. Plus the bling factor.

Mostly to add a little diameter for air to flow through (improved throttle response) and giving the option of Forged DVs or a BOV (which will hold boost better). It also allows for custom access points if you do decide to run a methanol injection system at any point.

My friend did have issues with the stock Dv's started to leak when he started pushing above 15-16psi.. And even after putting aftermarket DV's, the DV to chargepipe connection was leaking... SO i think to have a good piece of mind of a good seal of boost when throwing out high boost, a good charge pipe would be in order.

I have to agree here is a pic between stock and upgraded charge pipe..not a dramatic difference, and no difference at the throttle body itself.

Plus in my case the charge pipe would cause more fitment issues, since I am running Forge DVs and a simota CF intake

I ran up to 19 psi through my stock charge pipe and DVs, no issues.

Upgrading intake and diverter valves will have a much bigger effect on throttle response then a charge pipe for $250. def not enuff bang for the buck..IMO

Meth use? yes for those who are running meth, i guess its a solution to mounting meth bungs..I dont mess with meth..too much potential for engine issues if use is not monitored carefully

I've hit 18 psi a few times back in the days of V1-2 no problems.

Slightly better throttle response and holds boost better if you're running 18+ psi.
