intake recommendations?

i have 328i e92. seen a lot of different intakes in multiple e92's. any recommendations on the best sounding/performing intake. i know sound and so forth are really different to different people, but hopefully someone has tried multiple brands and can recommend a great one.

thanks!

They are all going to look, sound, perform roughly the same. I got an eBay intake for $85 and I am just as satisfied with it as I would be with an $850 Gruppe M CF intake. Go cheap!

yea i tried a few of them and i regret buying all those now. Just buy an exhaust for sound/performance. Keep your stock intake, get a drop in filter, cut the charcoal out.

i'm looking for a minor engine upgrade at this point, not ready for a full exhaust system yet. is the intake not worth it?

i've seen a lot about these injen and afe intakes. i know theres no real performance upgrade, just looking for a bit more aggressive, "throatier" sounding setup

c_joeng, how drastic does the drop in filter option improve the sound? any instructions on how to do that mod replacement?

sound sound sound sound ... wtf are you modding your car for? if you want sound why don't you upgrade your stereo system for sound.. Get an exhaust for sound.. You rather have a shitty running car for sound rather then a something that is useful ? i wonder where some of you guys come from seriously ..How about this for a first time mod , SEARCH !

I've read that Injen doesn't perform well when it gets hot. I've also read that aFe doesn't perform well, period -- it actually DECREASES performance.

Based on what I've seen around the forum, it seems BMW Performance is the best option for performance gains. Stock intake + charcoal filter cut out + drop-in filter is the second best option.

As for sound, see SuperAwesome's suggestions... But seriously, Injen and aFe might sound louder, but they're not the best for your car.

If you want sound, go for afe for sure. its the best sounding intake out there by far.

If you want economical... buy a drop in filter, some scoops, cut the charcoal out, and call it a day.

Dont buy injen. its a POS. in my humble opinion. AFE will perform better than injen.

BMW performance probably has the best gains... but paying 800 bucks for an intake that doesnt give much power to start with is absurd. I would love one, but dont want to fork the cash out for it.

PM me if you have any questions.

Have fun with that aFe pal. All it does it take power away and make you a ricer.

K&N drop in, scoops, and charcoal filter delete. End of story.

it's just way to expensive to justify the costs. especially when you can get a full bmw performance exhaust just for a little more or sometimes even less if you find one used

You are the person to turn in to in terms of questions Thanks for answering that. But I am referring to the reps, aren't they similar to the prices of AFE, but works much better? Can anyone vouch here? haha

Took out AFE and replaced with Dinan. For me, the difference was worth it. Thats what counts in the end, right? (I also have the BMW Performance Exhaust)

I have an aFe intake for sale with only a couple thousand miles, sounds aggressive and with a good tune will make a noticeable difference. PM if interested.
