My Black Beauty

Well, I've had my car a year and a few months now and my "little project" has come to near completion.

My car started life with me as a E92 335d SE in Black with Chromeline surround and 18" MV3 wheels. She had 63k on the clock

In the past year I've had 19" Alufelgen CS-7 wheels put on the Car. Then fitted the BMW Performance Black Grills, had the official MSport Body kit fitted and painted with an added painting of the Chromeline in the same Performance Black colour by CPS Automotive in Doncaster. This has then just been followed up by a Full Correction Detail and Nanolex Pro Sealant applied by Mercury Detailing in Hull. She now has 76k on the clock and is 4 years old.

The results are here:
http://www.detailingparadise.com/for...ead.php?t=2746

I'm quite pleased with the result, she feels like a new car

Unfortuantly to my annoyance I can't find any original pictures when I first got the car to show a comparison.

Future tweaks might be the M3 boot lip and maybe an exhaust from milltek, if they would ever get round to making one.

Both CPS and Mercury Detailing provided fantastic workmanship and I'd recommend them to others.

Willhollin,

You never been to Hull then?

We have potholes you could lose a bike in!!

I'm good with the msport suspension she comes with.

The detailer did an excellent job. Make sure you get some more coats of wax on there so it wasn't all for nothing

Looks amazing. Nicely modded too (as said previously). Seems a real shame to drive it outside once it's that clean and get it all covered in sh!te again.

What did you use to remove the adhesive from the wheel weights?

I didn't wash the car with a Brillo Pad!!! its had 3 years of car valeters and then 1 year of me washing the car. From the paints point of view, its had a hard life.

I shouldn't need any Wax on the car for upto 2 years thanks to the nanolex pro treatment. Its a Sealant which bonds to the laquer coat at a nano level. It also has some scratch resistance properties. Just need to work on my wash routine....going to go on down the snow foam route and try to touch my car as little as possbile.

I picked the car up on Friday, By Sunday it was filthy again!! Still, its the paint correction and protection I was after.

Thanks for your comments Gents.

Great end result, although I think I would have waited another month or two really to see the back end of gritted roads.

Top detail there, the car looks fab now.

Echo Del's comments, not entirely sure the weather has all gone yet and with some cold icy mornings, you will have to be extra careful to not get any swirls or lacquer scratches back on it.

I fully recommend the snowfoam method and it does help lots with shifting a huge proportion of the grime in the winter before the wash mitt goes anywhere near the paintwork. I wash mine now without even using a bucket of water.

It also helps in the summer, loosening all the bugs and flies etc so they dont need to be 'scrubbed' off inevitably marking the paint surface.

Defo put more wax on though and I would also recommend a detail spray after each wash and dry - I use Megs Quik Detailer - only takes about 5 mins or so to quickly spray and wipe each panel. Removes any water marks and gives your surface another 'coat' of protection for another week or so. Also helps to keep the beading properties of the wax.

prices are detailed here:

Mods, feel free to remove the link if it against the advertising rules.

Matt @ Mercury has put my car on his front page but its listed as a 335i! my 335d must be so stealth they he didn't notice, maybe he thought no-one would spend money on detailing a Diesel!

+1 on the snow foam. Brilliant stuff! I keep washing mine as it's actually quite fun too. Oh dear...

Planning on getting mine machine polished soon.

M3-FAST: The Nanolex Sealant should protect the car to some extent for 2 years

see here: http://www.nanolex.de/en/nanolex-pro...paint-sealant/

There quite abit of info about it across detailing forums. It doesn't look as good as wax but it offers the same level of protection for ALOT longer which is what I'm after.

The timing of this detail is not ideal, its just I got my MSport kit fitted and painted just befroe Christmas and I want the sealant on there asap to protect it from damage and the correction detail shouldn't have taken as long. Good job I did as the rest of the car was in such bad shape that it took him 50 hours of work in total and he didn't ask for anymore .

Will look at the detailer spray as I'm going to try and emulate your wash routine, you really reccommended it for Black cars.

Msport kit was Brand new from Anneka @ Sytner. Got a 15% discount as a forum member but it still came to 900 delivered. Cost me 550 to have the kit painted and fitted @ CPS Doncaster. The Kit includes every thing needed:

Front Bumper - with all plastic inserts and air ducting (this is different to the SE and is required, also needs to be cut down to fit) also comes with Front Fog lights and fog light holders.

Rear Bumper - with plastic diffuser which is already painted.

Sideskirts - .......

My MSport kit did arrive with front PDC's depsite me not having them, Anneka did manage to sort out the mistake but I was abit "twitchy" until it was sorted.
