Moaning Noise coming from N54 Engine (On and off...) What could it be??

Please check out the video below. It is from tonight, from my mother's 2008 135i with 22k on the odometer... . I pulled over to hear what the noise was, popped the hood, and heard the noises.... WTF could it be? Something common or obvious? There is no check engine light on, and the car seems to be running perfectly.

I need to check for codes later this weekend...

Experts.... anything?

I've heard the exact same noise on my car! No idea what it is, but I'd sure like to figure it out. Mine was much more periodic though, like 3 seconds of "mooooan" and then 5-6 off, rinse/repeat 3-4 times. I've only heard it twice and I can't pinpoint what I was doing or the state of the car when it happened other than it was at idle or crawling. Anyone have any ideas?

not to good with the e90s yet but is there a secondary air pump on that side? purge valve there? do the wastegates have something they do at idle for emissions? sounds like some sort of motor or valve pulsing.

Wastegate solenoid is taking a dump, you'll throw 30ff codes when it goes to shit. Dealer it.

My first guess was a wastegate/solenoid related issue, or some vacuum line... scanning for codes tomorrow, and appt for service on Friday. Will post back w/ the results of each

before listening I was going to guess that it could be the water pump that cycles fluid through the turbo to cool it. That runs after the car is turned off if the engine temp is high enough. It could be that, but its tough to tell

Could it also be the PCV vent pipe at the back of the valve cover? There should be some sort of pressure/vacuum limiting system built into the PCV inside the valve cover, and it could be fluttering.

Otherwise put your hand on each solenoid to see whether it's buzzing. Odd sound indeed.

Most people think that exhaust drives the turbos. Not true! It's wookies! Not sure why yours are so angry though.

I've had two 335's and they both did that (it cycles on periodically, but not as frequent as yours). I assumed it was the water pump.

mine does this on cold starts for 20-30 seconds and its not that loud and goes away, pretty sure its a pump cycling does it do it all the time or just on cold starts?

I'm assuming all the time ( with the exceptions of the pause periods every few seconds) i'll be monitoring it heavily.

I have noticed the sound when I'm up to temperature and at idle.
