service engine soon light...

So I have a service engine soon light. The car when I first start it up the car acts like it is only running on 5 cylinders. I wait for about 5-10min. and restart it and it runs o.k. but it still is underpowered. Anybody with experience with this? BMW said I ran it too low on gas so they reset it, but the next day with a full tank it came back. Has anybody had this problem?

It is either the fuel pump or fuel injectors. I had my pump replaced at 33000 miles and the fuel injectors 3000 miles later. BMW is aware of the problem and should replace themfor free. Don't get discouraged, my car runs great now. Sorry for your problem

I have the exact same problem. It is either a fuel pump or injectors. I have an appt with the local dealership on monday. Im stock so no fear about going to the dealership. I highly suggest making an appt asap!

Whoever told you , you ran it low on fuel and that's the problem doesn't know what he's talking about. I had the exact symptoms.

Well the car is finally back at the dealership. I gues 4,5 and 6 were misfiring due to low pressure. I will be quite upset if they dont fix this for free. I am In germany though so who knows. Thank you for the responces sorry I am so late getting back on here.

Hate hate hate BMW. They replaced 3 coil packs which of course did nothing. Now they are saying they are gonna replace my fuel pump again. This is number 2 in like a month. It really sucks because I am dealing with pompas asshole Germans who think they are better than everyone else. Oi I just want my car back and running right.
