Thank you! ^_^

Did you notice much of a difference in the old butt dyno? What other mods do you have?

I have the BMW performance exhaust, and the AA tune (for 93 octane).
I have felt a loss in torque low down, and there seems to be dips in the torque curve, however, there are some spots 4500 to 5000 and 6000 to 7000 where the engine just seems to fly.

My head snaps back in to the headrest when I go flat out in 1st

What weird is I feel those same "surges" without it... I also have the BMW PE and the AA tune, but I also have the Euro intake and K&N cone filter (not sure if that has anything to do with anything).

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens when I put it on...

I think that there is some more fine tuning required by AA for this set up.

This also seems to be a similar issue with those who have also installed the 3 stage intake (which probably exacerbates the troughs in the torque curve)

I thought the AA tune was a "shotgun" tune. I wonder how much control AA has over tuning this engine...

I believe that AA does not tune the VANOS and this is where the biggest potential gains can come from.

I think that another visit to AA may be called for to see if they can smooth out the peaks and troughs

I believe we currently have to go to Germany to have our VANOS tuned.

So I'm trying to get my hands on the Euro air box as well since it seems like it's better in every possible way than the US one.

Costs $450 off of ECS right now which is a bit more than I'd like to spend and it comes with the useless European MAF sensor which is useless here.

Does anyone have a source where I can buy this without the MAF sensor for much cheaper? I couldn't find anything off of eBay UK.

I know a lot of us have removed the charcoal filter and silencer. Then dropped in a K&N and have been happy, at least I have for 4+ years. Is the difference that dramatic from the euro box and the modified US box?

sorry if this was stated, bit to lazy to read all 6 pages at work.

I don't think there will be a huge difference between modified us box, euro box, and afe stage 2 sealed

I cant believe ecs wants 449 now for the euro box, I remember when they were like 379 and 409 only a cpl months ago. Just keep checking ebay in europe one will come up eventually if you have to have one.

keep track of the amount we talk about it here and you'd do the same thing if you owned ECS.

Our only solid mods are a 3 stg IM, tune, headers. The euro box is next on the list in terms of gains.

the headers will only work for those without emissions and the tune + manifold cost over 1200.

So where they have the airbox priced isnt bad.... and its DIY for pretty much everyone where as the header, tune, mani are not.

Or you could look up the DJapex mod and pretty much turn your US box into a euro unit.

Im doing it in the next few weeks.
