Best Shift Knob (Excl. ZHP)?

Currently have the ZHP knob which is really great but I will be throwing on a Autosolutions SSK where the height will be reduced even further from where it is. The stock Z4 shifter is already shorter than most Bimmers so I'm almost certain the ZHP knob + SSK will be too short.

So with that said, what's the best knob out there (either height adjustable like UUC or closer to stock height)? I'd throw back my stock knob but it's so damn light...

I do like the AA knob alot, at least how it looks but have yet to find any reviews on it:

Ice never seen a knob that's been too short. Just my personally opinion. The shorter, the better. No funny comments allowed. Respect the squirrel!

wow a lot of poor information in this thread.

if you shorten the throws - you should increase the length of the shift knob.

the shorter the knob, the notchiness increases and you decrease the amount of torque you have to shift. whats easier to break a bolt on your wheel - a mini ratchet or a breaker bar? a breaker bar! because you have more torque to your advantage. a ssk + an oem sized long shift knob is the best of both worlds. it decreases the throw, but increases the ease of shifting.

also, read this

http://www.rogueengineering.com/bmw/SNNN.html - its about why resting your hand on the shift knob while driving is bad. the same correlates with heavy shift knobs. the oem knobs weigh around 3 oz, vs some HEAVY aftermarket knobs which are really BAD for your transmission.

Anyone have UUC adjustable height one? Or know the weight on it? I was thinking of buying that one also.

I have the AA weighted shift knob. It's great. It Does sit slightly higher than my stock 135i shift knob. The throw is deff better with the weighted knob.

Just don't get one with leather. I've got an order from UUC open from Sept. Apparently the vendor who wraps their leather has been out for for a long while and the leather products are on delay as a result.

UUC's manufacturing process has been a joke for the past year at least...I was being told the same thing about one of their vendors when I ordered the UUC SSK and DSSR, ended up waiting about 5-6 weeks and eventually cancelled my order as I stumbled over a used kit with the DSSR...

Don't get me wrong their SSK is amazing but it sucks that they have these manufacturing delays all the time

I ordered one of the leather wrapped knobs 2 years ago and got the same story. Seems they would have found a new vendor by now. Cancelled my order after waiting about 6 months.

My very first mod on my car was the M sport shifter... Loved the look feel etc. After about 2 years it began showing signs of wear so I replaced it with the BMW performance knob/boot. Love the combo, Looks as good as it feels...
