CA key fob progamming

I'm about to buy a comfort access keyfob from another member, for my 08 with comfort access. My question is, will the dealership be able to program another cars CA keyfob to my car? And will they be able to recut that key (the actual key that inserts into the top of the keyfob), or will i need a new one of these? Thanks for any input.

I am quite sure that the keys cannot be re-programmed to another car. MAYBE you can get it to unlock the car but not start it.

I guess i'm just confused to why one couldn't be programmed that was from another car, when i ordered a new one, they programmed it. Why wouldn't one be able to be re-programmed?

I know you don't believe us, so go ahead and spend your money.

You'll be back whining after you visit the dealership and they tell you it won't work.

Hey dude the programming on the key fob is a one time only and can't be reprogrammed for use on other car. It is that simple.

As others has said, can't be done. On the plus side, you just bought yourself a nice BMW-logo'd paper weight.
