No it isn't.

It's a matter of choice. The claustrophobic headlining, fat wheel, slightly contrived "M sport" labels and different seats aren't for everyone. Some prefer it, some don't.

Mmm, personally I think you would need godzilla hands to use the M Sport over-fat steering wheel. The inside looks grey and depressing.

Why anyone pays for M Sport and not something useful, like a sunroof always puzzles me..... If you want dark black/grey and depressing with a sunroof, just open it and look at the weather. No need to pay more for an M Sport headlining.

When I first got mine, that's what I thought about the steering wheel. But after a couple of days you really get used to it, to the point where others feel pretty puny in comparison.

IMO, the M-sport seats are superb.

After those, if you sit in an SE, it feels flat and unsupportive.

My only problem is the suspension. Fine on a flat road - dreadful on most other roads. Non-RFT's improve it markedly, but it's still rock hard.

With the runflats on, I used to "snake" around the road when passengers were in the car, so that they would not comment on how bad the ride was.

That's true up to a point. I can't imagine why sunroofs have gone out of fashion. An glass electric roof is the best option available IMO. At one time, it was almost obligatory to have a sunroof to sell the car.

There's 3 x different types of 3-series steering wheel though:
- a skinny steering wheel
- a sport steering wheel (fitted standard to all 6-cylinder SEs afaik; mine also has standard paddles as well as the standard sport steering wheel, not sure which SE models the standard paddles applies to) -
- the M Sport steering wheel.

M Sport seems excessively fat to me. The SE sport steering wheel is a happy medium.

Oh Yes it is. This should be called the SE vs M-Sport pantomine.

Anyway, I thought we were sticking to fact and not opinion?

OP, I think the thread so far ably demonstrates that this is personal choice. Try the options and decide which options are key for you.

For me, the prof media system, and a speak upgrade are non negotiable - for others its m sport and big wheels.

decide what you "must have", and "would like to have" and then search accordingly in your budget for the most/lowest mileage/best condition car you can afford.

Indeed - the panoramic sunroof is absolutely fricking brilliant!
