Injector questions, need input.

So I am trying to get the car ready for emissions and I have the dreaded 29E0 code being thrown relentlessly. After much research, it sounds like the injectors are the most likely culprit for this code. The plugs and coils checked out OK. Seen several posts where people replaced plugs, coils and O2 sensors and none of that resolved this code. Only injectors resolved this code.

I do have a little bit of a rough idle which is apparently injectors as well. So I have to get rid of this 29E0 code to pass emissions. I went out and checked my injectors and here is the info on them,..

#6 = 13537585261-07
#5 = same part # -11
#4 = same part # -09
#3 = same part # -07
#2 = same part # -07
#1 = same part # -07

So I need some people who have already went down this rabbit hole before to help me out here. Are these old part #'s, old index #'s that would warrant it being a good idea to just swap them all? Would you guys just swap the front back or swap them all? I have seen some posts suggesting the latest index is at least 12 now and supposedly there have been some fairly substantial failures tied to old style injectors.

Does anyone know if the 29E0 code is tied to the front bank ( 1,2,3 ). This code comes up as P172 with the OBDII reader. Fuel Mixture Control, Too Rich.

Just looking for some help from the community as this is becoming quite a pain to deal with. Aside from this issue, I also have blown turbos at 85k miles that need replaced. Might as well replace the water pump & t-stat while I am at it. The list goes on and on. I love this car but she is racking up quite the maintenance costs.

Any help on the injectors would be appreciated.

To my understanding you can only run -11 or -12s within the same bank otherwise there will be issues. However, you can run any indexes below that in the same bank. Or it may be -10 to -12 within the same bank. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

A couple of my -07s were leaking and I replaced all with -12s.

I would pull out the injectors and see if any have very black, sooty tips. This would indicate a leaking injector.

I would start with plugs, would be a little bit easier of an approach. That is how I found my leaking injectors, they were very fouled. But looking at injectors will work too.

Ur issue is those injectors. Index 9 and under can not be used with index 10 or higher. They flow differently. If using diffrent index injectors, they have to be on the same bank.so since u have index 11 on #5,u can buy 2 more index 12 injectors and run those on cyclinder 4 and 6,and leave 123 alone as those are under index 10

Thanks guys. I went ahead and swapped all 6 injectors with the latest and greatest index 12's. Had them properly coded as well. The injectors that came out were all sooted up and looked pretty nasty. Not to mention they weren't even coded properly at the DME. No wonder the car was throwing the 29E0 code.

Car runs super smooth now. No codes whatsoever. Turbos are being swapped a couple weeks from now.

FYI, you should NEVER pull and injector and put it back without replacing the o-ring seal and decoupler. Not replacing them is allegedly what causes the dreaded injector tunnel erosion.
