Which warranty ?

Hello

Does anyone on here have any experience of aftermarket warranties ?

I am considering one for my 56 plate 320d m sport - its done 37k miles but the last service was by an independent BMW specialist.

I believe Warranty Direct have a good reputation but their cheaper policy doesn't seem to cover much and costs 253 - the extra car cover seems too cover most items inc turbos, diesel injectors, ecu's etc and costs 418 if you choose to have it repaired by an independent garage or 522 if you want it repaired by a stealer..

Anyone have any views on WD or know of any other good companies ?

thanks

I've not heard a single good thing that anyone's ever said about WD - including a good mate who runs a garage that does work for them and has to speak with the raft of customers who they let down by wriggling out of stuff.

I'm anything but a BMW OEM fan-boi, but the extended warranty is actually pretty good these days in my experience. The most important thing for warranty/insurance is that you go with a company who actually pay out. Cheap premiums count for diddly squat if the company is a loophole merchant...

If you look in the third page of the main UK forum you will see some fairly recent - and large threads on warranties - with enough comment to satisfy anyone. I don't think the people who posted then are going to do it again so soon.

i dont think you can beat putting 40 in a pot every month and hopefully you dont have to use i,t and you got a nice tidy sum after a few years, if you do need it,
it will help with payment

Go with the BMW warranty.

Putting 40 quid away in a pot doesnt work for newer BMW's. After 2 years you still wont have enough in the pot for a new turbo!

i dont think you can just ring up bmw and start a warrenty when its run out,
whats the point wasting 40 quid with warrenty sharks, i said it will help with a new turbo, but its very rare things go wrong
