Subwoofers stopped working. I'm lost....

The short story -

Im running a stock HU, Alpine PDX 5, sws 8's and morel door speakers.

Riding down the road yesterday the bass just... stops. Cold. Never any indication of a problem before.

So I check the amp fuses. Good.

I swap the front left channel with the sub channel connectors. The amp is working fine as doing this swap results in the left front speaker playing only bass. However the subs do nothing, even when swapped with the front channel.

So I check the speaker wire connections from the amp to the factory wiring to the subs, the connections are visibly fine.

The hell?

Anyone have any ideas? Im LOST on this one.

Time to pull out the voltmeter and measure wattage coming to the SWSs, and if that is OK then resistance at the SWSs themselves.
Could you have blown them? Reverse polarity, etc? But blown them at the same exact moment? Weird, there's got to be something else.

Thats what I am saying. I dont really have a meter at home.

Its just freaking wierd. Ima be pissed if they both blew at the same time. Im not even running that many watts.

PDX 5? no way theyre overdriven.

And theyre wired seperately.

I want my damn audio back. THIS SUCKS

Go and get a $10 meter at Walmart. That's the only way to be sure.
Maybe some part of your own connection to the SWS failed; e.g. connector became loose from a bump, etc?

thats what I thought too. But the only connections I made were perfect. I dunno I havent had ANY time to mess with it. I wont for a while either, which is very annoying...

This 335 has become VERY high maintenance. From the tpms light always on to the damn fuel system, not the audio. I need something to just drive and forget. I dont have time for this crap.

Surreal. Just reinstalled both factory woofers.

BOTH sws-8's blown. No scraping voice coil etc. Just wont play...

Maybe one blew and I never noticed it, but I doubt it.

Go figure, maybe theyre junk.

Now I hope the factory woffers dont cook.

Could of blown one and not noticed so all the power would go to the other one blowing it as well. Are you sure your amps not clipping from having your gain too high that could cause them to blow.
