I'd prefer just the normal stock setup of the 328 cause I've already got a BMW PE so I'm not planning on going for a quad setup..

Hi, I would be interested as long as there is no cutting or moving anything around.
Please add me to the single quad list.
Thanks

Assuming the openings on the pre-lci dual quad diffuser are spaced apart like the OEM 335 bumper, I'd like to be put down on that list!

By all means YES! A diffuser for the stock bumper E90 335i Pre-LCI would be amazing.

Not to threadjack, but if you happen to live in the San Diego area please check out this thread:http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472118

Andy (BlueBat) has offered to test fit and develop the vinyl option just needs a donor Pre-LCI E90 for literally 15 minutes. If this sounds like something you would be interested in contact him directly to coordinate at bluebatmobile@san.rr.com

Lightbulb An idea...

Ok, so I've done a bit of thinking and there are probably 4 possibilities that people will be interested in, right:

1. non-335 single exhaust cutout (standard)
2. non-335 exhaust cutouts on both sides
3. 335 dual exhaust (standard)
4. 335 quad exhaust

Note: For options 2 and 4 there will be some cutting of the bumper required in order to make way for the second set of tips on the other side (non-335) or quad tips in the same place (335).

Further complication comes in due to the fact that the bumper shape on the pre-LCI is different to the LCI shape. If I am to do this there is a relatively significant outlay in terms of moulding and so I would probably limit it (for now perhaps) to one or the other - pre-LCI or LCI.

I quite like a design with fins and so I'd probably design it to protrude backwards from the rear of the car slightly to incorporate a concave section and fins. As for the spacing of the fins I've done a bit of experimenting in photoshop and put together a trace of all the bumper styles mentioned above and then played around with the spacing of the fins and come up with the pic attached as a VERY basic idea of what it would look like.

So there are a couple polls that I need to conduct but don't want to start a new thread as people are probably already subscribed to this one. So I'll track it on my side in a spreadsheet or something like that but please reply and answer the following questions which will help me get an idea of the demand for each of the designs. Bear in mind that I will most likely end up making all four designs - I just want to prioritise which one gets made first etc.

1. Pre-LCI or LCI?
2. Type (pick from the 4 options mentioned above)
3. Design (fins / no fins / any ideas of other styling options)

Like I say if I get a good enough response I'll get working on it as soon as the m-sport / m-tech diffuser that I'm working on is done.

And just to be 100% clear, this will be a part that overlays the stock rear bumper and will not require an m-tech rear.

I have seen quite a few members pull it off so I'm pretty sure it's possible. Check out this thread - there's a bit of info (in the thread and linked) there on quad set-up's for non 335's.

As for what's under the covers, I couldn't say - I'll do the necessary investigation as soon as I start on the part though to make sure it fits etc.

Can I assume:
1. Pre-LCI (based on the '06 year model of your ride)
2. Type 1 - Non-335, single cutout
3. Fins

??

So I'm going to go with:

1. Pre-LCI
2. Type 2
3. Fins

Side View (Sorta)

Hi All

So my photoshop skills aren't brilliant, but I've tried to add the outline of kinda what the diffuser would look like on the trace of a side view of a stock e90.

I think the bit that I added on sticks out a bit too much in my image - the real actual piece wouldn't stick out so much. I think I need to get some 3d software and start getting my ideas modelled and rendered. That'll help a lot with the visualisation as I could show ideas from all angles...

But let me know what you think about the fins idea (in blue)

Here are a few inspirational shots of the Hamann overlay diffuser on a e92 that is small and simple, yet looks good wrapping just around the area where the exhaust outlets are. No need for a large footprint spanning the entire back IMHO as long as the envelope follows the lines of the lower bumper.

Looks quite good - nice and clean. Looks like it'll only fit a 335 based on the exhaust opening spacing, right? So far the majority of the responses here are for a non-335 design. So, so far it looks like that's the first one I'm going to develop.

What do the rest of you guys think about the Hamann design over the idea of something with fins?
