Sound Clip | INJEN CAI for the N55
There's finally an option for an intake for the N55.
Picked the intake up from INJEN a couple days ago and been road testing it. It's a solution that replaces the OEM intake and pipe'n all the way down to the 2nd sensor. Relocates the Power steering reservoir with an included custom bracket and a snorkel to re-direct air flow to the cone. First initially thought is wow, i can hear my turbo spooling very clearly from inside the cabin. Building up boost and hearing the spooling is awesome, there's a "blow-off valve" sound as well. Power wise, Injen dyno'd it at 12 whp and 15 ft/lbs - from a butt dyno stand point I would say feels strong between 1-3 with 3 pulling very strong. I feel 0-60 there's an improvement in power And during some spirited freeway runs, I would say in 3 you feel the most power. Injen did their testing with my bimmer and those dyno numbers will be posted soon. I will also do an independent dyno as well. Those numbers will be up in the next couple of weeks. The polish chrome is bling and personally I kindy like it. I had concerns that the pipe'n would get extremely hot and I have to say it is not hot like a skillet - it's luke warm on long runs. The weather's been cold recently so come summer well see. The aluminum tubing does help keep it cool. Injen fabricates all their intake here in the United States. I respect that Injen took there fabrication all the way down to the second sensor. The oem tubing is distorted and has an oval mid section to the intake box. They just went straight pipe from the 2nd sensor all the way to the cone. I say 2nd sensor because there is 1 more elbow tubing to the turbo. and getting access to that elbow would be a bitch if Injen went all the way to the turbo. Install is very straight foward give yourself 1-2 hour, 30min if ur quick. Another thing worth mention'n is the added engine space you'll get with this intake. Relocation of the Power steering reservoir is awesome. This custom bracket is clean, looks oem, not janky. You get direct access to the charge pipe EDIT: NO check engine light - Sound Clip: 2nd video Berk DP, Vanguard exhaust, Injen Intake, Procede - FTW. EDIT: prep'n for numbers for the INJEN intake. DYNO numbers of BASELINE run did months ago. 2nd DYNO numbers of EXHAUST + OEM intake last week reference page of dyno http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...70#post9124070 3rd DYNO with INJEN intake coming this week. will be posted here when done.

very nicely made video, and that CAI does sound fantastic. I wonder how the aFe will compare?
Any initial comments on performance?

Paul - well get u one. I know u'll like the "blow-off valve" sound u get from the single turbo spool'n, building boost.

I personal don't know - there's a vendor doin' a pre-sale.
u can check in the vendor section. Injen didn't give me an official price. yes DSLR / no, shot behind LTBMW. ![]() Quote:
Concerns of heat in the engine bay. And they took time to explain the process of their fabrication. Even before their intake goes into Road testing and fabrication they figure out the factors and tune the intake through simulations. Entering values and specs from the 335, running test, and running them again. Once they get a value that is up to their specs, then they build a prototype and R&D. And repeat and rinse as needed. I've yet to see a check engine light. ![]() At the end of the day, they took that suggestion of a heat shield and are work'n on an optional add on piece. I have full confidence in their knowledge of intakes and customer support. I'll continue test'n this and romping around town and abuse it till dyno day.
