He might if his new venture allows him to.... however for now I'm pretty sure that it's taken over his life.

I'm sure he'll be back online in a couple of weeks time and we all hope that there'll be a few trips this year.

To be fair, the opening times for 2011 were only published a week or two ago. I'm sure he'll have something in the works...........

You can be certain that he'll be organising a few trips this year. His restaurant has just opened, so give him a few weeks to let his life get back to some semblance of normalcy, and he'll be more active here.

Looking forward to seeing all you crazy guys again!

Opening times of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the next months and prices

In order to make it easier to decide on which week-end you would like to do your 'Ring-trip, I've compiled a list of those dates where the whole week-end is available for Touristenfahrten driving (until the end of September 2011).

Unless otherwise indicated, the Nordschleife is open between 8 a.m. and 7. p.m. Here you go (the information is from the official Nürburgring website):
  • 8.4. - 10.4. (Friday: 2 p.m. - 7.30 p.m.; Saturday: 1.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 16.4. - 17.4. (Saturday: 4.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • 22.4. - 25.4. (Easter - Friday to Monday)
  • 7.5. - 8.5. (Saturday: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 21.5. - 22.5. (Saturday: 4.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 28.5. - 29.5. (Saturday: 5.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 11.6. - 13.6. (Saturday: 5.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.; Monday whole day)
  • 18.6. - 19.6.
  • 2.7. - 3.7. (Saturday: 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 9.7. - 10.7.
  • 30.7. - 31.7. (Saturday: 5.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 6.8. - 7.8.
  • 13.8. - 14.8. (on both days 11 a.m. - 6.30/7 p.m.)
  • 3.9. - 4.9.
  • 17.9. - 18.9. (Saturday: 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • 24. - 25.9. (Saturday: 5.30 p.m. - 7 p.m.)

Personally, I think the Easter week-end looks tempting, although it will be very full then; also, the week-ends in June (18/19) and July (9/10) and the first May week-end looks good.

On the 9 + 10 May (Monday/Tuesday), it will furthermore be possible to drive on the VLN version (long distance race) of the Nordschleife, i.e. the version of the track that combines the Nordschleife with the Grand Prix circuit (around 25 km in total). Driving times are between 5.15 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., the price is the same as for the "normal" Nordschleife Touristenfahrten.

Which brings me to the pricing, which has substantially developed (and not in the direction I would have favoured...). The 'Ring is under new management since last winter and is being managed more commercially. Meaning: prices going up. The current prices are the following:
  • 1 lap: 24 EUR
  • 4 laps: 89 EUR
  • 15 laps: 310 EUR
  • 25 laps: 470 EUR
Now, since this season you also receive food vouchers with all tickets except the 1 lap ticket. For the 4 laps ticket you get a 10 EUR voucher, for the 15 laps ticket you get a 20 EUR voucher, and for the 25 laps ticket you get a 30 EUR voucher. You can use these vouchers anywhere on the 'Ring, such as in the popular Devil's Diner that we usually use when we're there.

See you there!

do you guys normally go in your own cars and drive there and back? How long does the whole thing last usually including travelling to and from the place?

Sure we take our own cars. That's more or less the purpose of it - learn to master your own car better in an environment that is different from public traffic.

You can also rent proper track cars of course, there are shops for that all around the 'Ring. Be prepared for a hefty deposit though!

As for the time - usually you guys drive over on Thursday or Friday and go back on Monday.

Hello
Ive never been to this track in my life but I hope to going there one day
Its the most beatiful and exciting track in the world, missing it would mean I waisted my life lol :P Ring Taxi with Sabine would be wonderful Anyone knows the price for the round with Sabine in a M5 ? What is the cheapest hotel or motel over there ?
By the way, I am thinking to getting 330d 245BHP engine and re-mapping it to 300BHP or even a little bit more, because my 320d with a re-map to 215BHP wouldnt be any good over there hehe...

Afraid there is no more Sabine or M5 ring taxi... Sorry dude. Still awesome though. The 330d will be much better, regardless of map or not.... the 320d would be a bit breathless to say the least.

I'm up for a trip this year if there are a few...

I think the 320D would be fine on the ring tbh.

Checking the time to 60mph after DPI system has been done on my car raising the power to 215BHP I worked out that it does it in around 7 seconds. Comparing to 335i's 5.5 seconds its not good at all hehe I need to spend some time looking for some nice 330d 245BHP engine for sale

Thats a really big shame that Sabine is not there any more making 'Green Hell' eben more greener :P

4 laps for around 89 Euros is not that bad 3 days in a row would be enought

PS. CHeck my profile to see albums of my 2 Beemers
Thanks...

Mat
