Andrew, I am not surprised the 997 has gone as your posts have never been over enthusiatic about the car. Nothing to be embarassed about as although it's sits high on petrol heads dream car list it would not be my 911 of choice and would prefer a C2S as my everyday car. The problems have given you the excuse to let it go.

I don't know much about the Maserati but I am sure you will enjoy it for the summer. Can you decrome the windows as this may work better with the black and dark alloys?

You are the kind of guy who will never settle on one car but a couple of years down the line regret the one that got away. I guess you will be back in the old mans AMG soon as it seems your car of choice so you might as well flirt with a hot italian along the way.

Enjoy the motor and I may come and see it at Goodwood in August if it has not already gone.

+1 on the non black interior!

Looks great mate, never really been turned on by Massers myself but that looks great!!

Funnily enough just watching Megafactories on Nat Geo HD and it is the Masser factory this week.

I love 911's but I don't like the TT, at all, just find it soul less compared with the C2S.
I'm really not surprised you didn't keep it all that long.

Spot on Andrew, very nice indeed. They are such rare cars around most parts, that many will just stand and stare wondering what just drove by making such an awesome noise!!

Hope you enjoy this one more than the Porker

Do I need an excuse to let a car go??

I imagine you're right about being back in an old mans car again at some stage!

The chrome - yes, totally agree. I will look into that as I prefer the shadowline option (yes, Maserati call it that too!)

After watching that Megafactories last night on my Sky+ I wonder if I've done the right thing.....

...did you see how they bang and hammer the cars to 'fix' any imperfections as it goes down the line. They kept on saying it was one of the worlds most advanced production lines (and I do believe it was all rebuilt only a few years ago after Maserati was bought outright by Ferrari in 1999) but to me it all looked very low tech....especially in comparison to the AMG one last week.

Cheers guys...I too hope that I don't miss the performance as I'm not going to get that anywhere else (unless I buy another one the same, which is unlikely). Much like you get used to faster cars where they seem normal, I imagine the Maserati's performance will seem normal after a day or so (for instance, I never feel the Mini needs any more power when I drive it).

Having said that, the Turbos performance NEVER felt normal...even after 4 months (a new record for me I believe) the way that car accelerates shocks my gut's every time I apply full throttle for more than a few seconds!

All i can say is i love it! Only the other day we were drooling over the new GT-S in the office, a 997 owner wanting to chop in for it.

And i'm honestly lost for words on how often you change cars. You turned up to the meet in the c63 and if we have another this summer you will be in another c63 or your 4th car in that year!

It really is quite funny

V.nice indeed. And v.rare!

Best looking car available today by a country mile.

A shame about the Porker - a Turbo S is my current semi realistic dream car - but that is one HELL of a replacement - PHHWWWOOOOAAARRR!!

Bets on how long you'll have it until the next thing comes along? I'm going for six months...!

Andrew,

Stunning. Simply stunning. I recognise the car. John is a good mate of mine and I was over there on Thursday last week and had a nose around it. Beautiful car and the sound!

Small world....it really is!

John (Mcgurk to everyone else who is wondering what we're talking about...thats who I bought it from) told me that after a phone call I had with him the previous day about my Porsche, he rang Porsche Silverstone to get an idea of value of my car in the Porsche network. When John described my car to the guy who runs Porsche Silverstone, the guy said 'I know that car...and he used to have a C63'. Totally random but it appears he's my neighbour and lives about 5 houses away from me (and has some nice motors too including a DeLorean and Lotus Carlton the lucky sod).

So will Mcgurk be selling your Turbo Andrew? Or will he pass it back into the OPC network? Seems such a shame that two years of OPC warranty will become void, unless it is still in the manufacturers new car warranty period.

I would have loved to have your white TT, although regretably funds will not stretch to that at the moment.

He is selling it which I believe means the warranty can be transferred. In fact he said its going to be his car for a bit so not sure if it'll be up for sale right away.

Andrew, it would be rude not to have a go in this when you pick yours up.

There's a white one of those with the same wheels in black and all the MC bits and bobs round the corner from my work. It drives past my office every day and I don't mind admitting the engine noise leaves me nursing a semi every time.

I know what you mean about the Porsche and the sense of occassion. My boss is a big Porsche fan and buys nearly every car they release. In fact, he's the only person I know that changes his car more than you (so far on his third this year). Porsche owners don't take offense as I love Porsches but to Joe public they all look the same and even i have to admit that the interior in particular of nearly every one I've been in has been seriously dull considering the expense. I feel that in the Porsche range the GT3 and GT3 RS have that something special but it's a niche car and I defy anyone to live with it on a daily basis.

The Masserati is indeed something special. You can also now use the line "Masserati, talk to me" Like Mr Tibs.

Only just caught up with this!!!

What a great decision!!

That is a fabulous car and I think you have it spot on with the "sense of occasion" comment......for me, that is worth many fractions of a second off the 0-60....time will tell whether you will feel the same....
