Question map display but no directions?

(sorry about all these q's - new car and all that)

is there any way just to display a perspective map of where i am without actually following a route? (my thinking is even when i know where i'm going i'd like a map showing all the speed cams etc...)

i'm sure its dead easy, i just havn't got my head around iDrive yet...

Si.

Yes you can.

Go into Navigation. Then move down to the bottom of the screen and select perspective map, push down to select - perspective map appears in the main screen! And you don't even need to have a route. You can have this on all the time and other information on the smaller right hand screen if you want.

Send a message via MSN to NathanJT
Or just press the voice control button followed by saying "Perspective"

However I normally have the Perspective map showing in the info window (as beauforty mentioned) as it's then available in "entertainment" etc.

Just press voice control - wait for the speech icon to appear (about 1/2 sec afterthe beep) and say 'information on screen'.

If you use the voice control 'map' at any stage the map screen will pop for whatever view you selected last..

Did you get the speed camera stuff working then ?

the problem was (needforspeed) that the file you gave me the .url file actually had 2 extensions (so was 0100.url.url) - that was all - easy fix, thanks a bundle
