The soap tray is always cold fed regardless of wash temp and whatever you put in it won't come through the water feed holes which is just cold mains water.

Its impossible to clean the soap tray sprayers by any means other than taking it to bits.

The hot wash will clean the drum nicely, but not the soap dish / sprayer.

But this is about the fabric conditioner not being drawn in, rather than the detergent.

If if you put the detergent in the drum, you still need liquid conditioner in the draw.

I was going to say that I very much doubt hot water is fed through the tray so thanks Mike for confirming. Taking the top off is a right pain as the tumble dryer is perched on top of the washer in a tightly fitting unit - might have to bit the bullet though.

Roger, you must be able to slide the machine out though?

Open the drum door wide, grab the opening towards the top with both hands, then walk back to drag the whole machine out backwards.

Then pop the back and top off if.

Yeah, it'll come out no problem, just need a bit of forward planning (i.e. a second pair of hands to lift out the dryer first). Nice job for the weekend...

Get a water softener then you won't need to use fabric softener.

Rhubarb Will...

Used to have a softener when we lived in a hard water area, now we have the softest tap water in the UK and in both cases softener is essential.

Do you like scratchy clothes that don't smell spring fresh??

To be honest I don't get involved with the washing.

It has however cleared up the little one's dry skin problem.

I'm the same, apparently I can't be trusted to wash clothes, which is quite useful as I also make sure I'm shite at hoovering, ironing, cleaning and making the tea (you know, all those womens jobs ) .
