i just got my first bmw its a 2011 328i and i didnt get i drive. i was wondering is it possible to put in an aftermarket headunit. Like the ones that flip out so i can add navigation? also, i was wondering if this would ruin my ipod connection in the center console. i would also like to get some tvs in the headrest and was wondering what my options would be as far as pricing. any answers would be greatly appreciated. again im sorry if this is a dumb question.

Modern cars are like a computer network
A really stupid computer network that doesn't work right if any of there
nodes are missing.

side effects alarms and bmw sos will not work
bluetooth and ipod will have to come from the new unit

the ability to get software updates is nullified(for the whole car including the engine)
unless the orignal head unit is mounted somewhere else in the car.

There may be warranty invalidation issues

so if i do my warranty will be void? and im kind of confused in terms of upgrades?

Not if you can prove the modification is not the cause

At least that is what the law says but the practicality of it
may not actually work out.

there was one in there that had a similar unit.
The screen will flip up right in front of your vents
thats why I think the dynavin is a better unit.
You really need to do your homework before attempting this.
You need to know exactly what you are starting with and what the effects
are and if you are not doing a self install you have to find somebody competent on e9x's meaning somebody that does them on a regular basis.

I suggest you do a lot of searching in this forum and become familer with what in your car now before attempting this.

I did this in my E46 and regretted it. I hear its worse for the E90. I havent looked into the headunit you can get off of bimmian but my advice is get a garmin or a good map.

There are some I drive retrofits but they are expensive (I hear its $1500 for just the dash piece)
