ill upload the logs in a bit but i just got back and the tps requested and tps actual jump immediately from the high 30's to the high 70's with nothing in between and peak at 81%... more to come but I think load actual has something to do with it as well its more pronounced in 3rd and 4th gear

I did a couple runs and found that no matter how smooth I was with the throttle the tps (both actual and requested) jumped from 30% to 79% and peaked at 80.98% There was no change in tps beyond 80.98% and I had boost anywhere between 5 psi to 14 psi showing the same 80.98% tps.
I just filled up with 94 octane and switched to the stage 1 93 octane map to see if there is a more linear response as some members had suggested.

Can someone explain how to post my data logs so I can share them.

It's very important that you test with the 2.00 map. There is a very different feel to this map, and never has the tps spike

The 2.0 map on my list is the stock or valet map. I went on the Cobb website and cannot find any other 2.0 maps. (which I assume is the previous generation of the stage 1 you are reffering to) Cobb makes no reference to a change in the throttle map on this firmware update, so I don't know why there would be a difference. (not that I'm doubting you). Do you know where I can download the 2.0 version of the stage 1 map?

I have the 2.0 map for I8A0S if you happen to have that rom version?

Edit:

Actually you can still download them, they updated the link but the files are still there. Just replace the I8A0S with your rom version.

91 Map:

Downloaded the maps, thanks. Are these for AT or manual? my understanding is that cobb had different maps for each before the switch to 2.1 maps

The 1.x maps had manual / automatic. Starting with 2.00 they combined them.

putting the throttle mapping issues aside, I am still thoroughly impressed with the ease at which I can download new maps, upload them to the AP, and install into the car. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes!
Cobb has definitley produced a pretty slick product.

Though I never got an answer back from Cobb, even after emailing twice (nice, I just spent $900 and you cant reply to my emails?), I've just reverted back to 2.00 map. There's definitely an unpleasant difference in the 2.01 map, I think it may be a mistake as Cobb has advertised the 2.01 maps as only fixing AT issues.

To summarize: use 2.00 map if it bothers you.
I'm very sorry we have missed your emails, that should not have happened. Please feel free to contact me directly and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. We have changed the way some of the structure of the torque request tables where it should not have had an effect on the manuals, but did so when rolling out of the throttle. We are currently working on different throttle mapping to create a more linear throttle feel.

Lance should be coming in to make some TPS revisions for those who would like a little less aggressive ramp in power.

Cheers,
Rob

I have recently been working on some updated Stage1 mapping with more linearized throttle mapping to help alleviate the "on-off" feel that some people experience. I have passed the update around on our in-house 335i around to a few different employees to drive and they seem to like it, so I'd like to test it out with a few of you guys

OP, what ROM version does your car use? It's identified by the "IxxxS" labeling in the map names and ECU descriptors and what not.

Best regards-
Lance

Rob,

Can you explain this is plain english? How it will make power delivery more linear?

And is this typical of a Cobb Tune for manual cars?

You've got PM regarding testing. I'm in a 135i MT. Noticing the on/off issue.

I have uploaded the new map and will report back this evening. I have a 100 kilometer round trip drive today, so this will give me a good chance to feel out the tune. Thanks again Lance for the quick response. I don't think anyone can question Cobb's level of commitment to customer care.

Have had my Cobb now for almost 2 weeks on a stock 2009 335i 6MT. I love the increase power/performance. On initial setup got the "Unrecognized ROM" reading, emailed to Cobb and they incorporated the new Rom in 2 days! About a week ago a warning signal appeared in upper window "Bulb of exterior lighting system failed" along with the "Service Due" triangle with exclamation point inside the bottom window in the upper right hand corner. Checked all exterior lights and all were working properly. The following day they both disappeared and reappeared again yesterday. Has anyone else experienced this and should I be concerned?

Also, never really push the car to it's limits until a 2011 Jaguar XK challenged me. I'm not a Jaguar advocate but damn what a nice looking car. I was dead on his ass the whole time and I mean on his ass. But never got the opportunity to try to pass because of traffic. In retrospect, didn't really know the car pushed with that much speed until I really push hard on the pedals. Oh... and I did get a minuet smell of smoke after that run. Is that normal as well?

Started up the car, got an error code (unrecognized software) used the AP to clear the code, no problems. Car is actually idling smoother than before. Pull out of the parking garage, feels about the same as stock. I drive around for a bit to let the oil temp come up and head on to the highway to see what my butt dyno thinks. First impression is great! definately pulls hard, very smooth no hiccups. 150 kph comes in a hurry. After a few WOT runs in 3rd 4th and 5th I'm impressed with the extra power. The tires actually spun in 3rd!
So here's my issue............. after I settle down a bit and start to really get a feel for the drivability I'm noticing that even at 1/3 throttle the car is pulling like a freight train. I plugged the AP into the port to get some live read outs and see that even at 1/3 throttle the boost is shooting up to 14.4. and when I back off the throttle a bit the boost drops with a noticeable lurch. Increased throttle response is nice, but this seems excessive. The extra power is great, but if I can't modulate that power, whats the point? I track my car quite a bit (which was my main reason for the tune) but I'm concerned about the overall driveability. I don't want to be in a high speed corner and spin out when the boost kicks in because my toe twitched.
I've read that some people feel the tune gets better as it adapts to your driving, is this true? Has anyone else had similar issues? or am I just crazy? Do other tunes have a similar throttle response? Are my expectations too high? I sent Cobb tech an email with no response so far.
LOL- This post is pure NGUYEN!.. now I REALLY want the AP!

I just installed my Cobb AP this evening and didn't have any of the hiccups mentioned in the thread. My throttle response felt pretty linear; in fact, I noticed that the first half of the throttle was decent but when pushed to WOT it really came alive. I'm driving a 6MT and just downloaded the latest software. Also, I didn't notice any extended acceleration after I let off the gas. I only drove the car for about 30 minutes after instillation so maybe I'll see some differences after a few days. I will say I was really impressed.

As I took off in 1st gear, I didn't really jump hard on it and didn't notice a huge difference. When I shifted into 2nd and floored it, I felt like I got shoved into the back seat. Going into 3rd, my DSC kicked in and I realized I was passing cars like they were in reverse so I backed off.

I'll have a chance to push the car this weekend; if I notice any differences I'll report them.

Just finished spending a couple of hours with the tune that Lance sent me......................this is exactly what the doctor ordered! Much more refined than the previous maps. Throttle response is smooth and predictable, without any boost surge, or the on/off feeling I was getting from the other tunes. The boost rolls in smooth and keeps building through the whole rev range. It's very deceptive, the power just seems to swell with no drama or excitement but one look at the speedo and I'm grinning ear to ear. I'll have to change this thread to "Cobb AP exactly what I expected"
Thanks Lance!
