When to change the Transmission Fluid? 335i

My E90 335 has 30k miles now, When will the dealer change my transmission fluid? BTW, i have the extended warranty and maintenance plan until 6yr/100k

What is the recommended by BMW? What is the recommended by the guys here?

Just like the engine oil, BMW only do it yearly or 15k miles but i pay extra in between to get it changed every 6 months

Thanks

For optimum protection, change the fluid and filter every 30,000 miles (unless you have a new vehicle that is filled with Dexron III ATF which is suppose to be good for 100,000 miles). BTW this is for automatic tranmission

I think BMW tries to screw you by telling you your transmission has lifetime fluid, meaning you're going to have to pay out of pocket for one.

Dealers will NOT change it they call it lifetime fluid.

My service advjsor told me they will only chamge it if there is a repair involved, so when my transmission sleeve was replaced due to an oil leak they changed the transmission fluid.
I recommend doing it at a shope because this lifetime fluid really is just another way to save money, an its bad for the tranny ( zf said to change at 50k miles)

An automatic transmission creates a lot of internal heat through friction: the friction of the fluid churning inside the torque converter, friction created when the clutch plates engage, and the normal friction created by gears and bearings carrying their loads.

fyi, even though the pan states "Lifetime", take a look at the warranty and service booklet, it states 100,000 miles. I change mine every 30,000 miles, but that is just me. Also, take a look at other posters who have changed their trans oil. Every one of them had a good experience. No one reported a bad experience, yet.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
