Well not as many as you would think, the shelves were pretty bare by the time I got there, I just bought up the springfield rifles they had left, the AK's and AR's were already gone.

I found an AR for sale but the price is ridiculously marked up.

Debating if I should pull the trigger on it or just wait it out and see what happens with the proposed gun legislation after the new year.

Thoughts?

I certainly wouldn't wait, paying extra is worth it, it's like insurance.

However we did come to a compromise and even though its not officially a black rifle, it's something I've always wanted. She's agreed to let me get a M1 Garand from the CMP . I'm gonna fill out all the paperwork tonight and send it in on Monday.

Only debate is to get it chambered in 30-06 or .308.
M1 Garands are sweet! I would get it in 30-06, without a doubt. I will eventually get one.

Depends on what it's marked up to. I personally think this is a bit of a knee jerk reaction with regards to the rush to buy ARs. If the new legislation doesn't happen or have any significant movement before the gun shops get new inventory, the prices are likely to come back down to earth a bit.

But that's easy for someone who has multiple ARs to say. My LGS said that a mid range quality AR-15 was going for about $2k. I saw a guy buy an AR chambered in 308 because it was the only AR they had. He paid $3800 for it.

With all these gun stores bumping up their prices is the same happening with corporate stores like Bass Pro or the Walmarts that do sell firearms?

One part of me thinks that this will eventually blow over and the market for AR's will subside, but then the other part of me thinks that I should get in now while I still can in case something drastic happens. The other problem is that as soon as any of my local gun shops get a delivery of AR-15's they're gone the same day, mostly by assholes who are just flipping them to make a profit.

When I said marked up, I meant that it's right around the neighborhood of $2K... and that same gun could be purchased for $650-$750 before this whole crisis happened, just to give you an idea.

That kind of mark up is dough to swallow. But people who are freaking out are forking that kind of cash over to anyone who's got one for sale.

Took a note from Nate above and checked Cabela's. They seem to have ARs in stock and don't seem to be gouging yet. Do you have one near you?

The nearest one is in Connecticut and I'm pretty sure they stopped selling any type of semi-auto rifle in that location.

I have a pending transaction though on an M&P15 Sport, if it works out I'll post up pics.

Your right about them not selling them in CT.

Hope it works out. The new Range/Gunshop near my house has 4 ARs in stock. From 1300 to 2300.

www.midwayusa.com has good prices, but they're out of stock on everything 5.56

Might be time to start learning how to reload ammo........

These prices are crazy. It's like after the 2008 election all over again. I'll just stay content with my 1 AR-15 and the ammo I already have for it.

All gun ranges in town had a 2 to 3 hour wait for a lane today.... The newest range in town had about 115 people there shopping and shooting around 3pm.

It's a little crazy right now.

Finally got around to starting a custom case for my collection. Only about half way done cutting the foam out but here is the proposed layout. Well, can't resize easy on my phone so pics will have to wait.

Anyone else have a custom cut case for their guns?

I was going to but the cost of acquiring the foam was too close to the cost of having a pro do it
