26k? You can get an e90 for that much.

As for the car no they're not fun. No front wheel car is fun to drive no matter what kinda limited slip they have. Nothing will fix understeer.

I have that exact car in the picture. Coming from an E90 325, the TL-S it's quite a bit bigger, slightly heavier and FWD. You'll notice those three on the first test drive. Suspension feels great for DD and spirited driving. Steering is quite a bit heavier than the BMW, not quite as precise but part of it being the result of FWR. Steering feedback is very good however. Transmission is not as smooth as the ZF 6AT. It's quite a bit faster than the 325i. The engine really comes alive at 4k RPM. It's more fun to drive than a 325i w/o ZSP.

Just a list of things that came to mind.

And, not a single shop visit for warranty items for the last 32k miles.

I had a CL-S too. It desperately needed coilovers. After putting those in, it was not so bad and I think it aged pretty well.
The 6MT TL-S dynos at 250 whp stock and has even more torque steer, it is almost like riding a bull. Stock suspension is better than the CL-S or IS350. It also beat the IS350 and G35 around Willow Springs..

I use to have a TL-S. Before that I had a E36 M3. I only bought the TL-S because I needed a sedan at the time. Honestly, it is a great car but with no soul. I think true car guys/gals will understand what I mean. As soon as BMW came out with the new M3 sedan I had to make the jump back to BMW. Again the TL-S is great sedan but it really never moved me.

if I were to spend that much on an e90..i would only get a 335.

buck goes alot further with the Acura with the expected trade-offs (performance handing...etc)

I worked for Acura when the 99 and 04 generation TLs launched. Suffice to say the 04-08 TL was incredibly stylish...we finally had good looking 20-30 yr old women in the store vs. the typical nerd Acura client.

I had the choice to drive anything on the lot and I always ordered myself a 6-speed TSX. The TL had terrible torque steer and while fast(er), it just didn't please the driver.

The 'later S models had substantially refined half shafts and front suspension to counter the torque steer, but it will never feel like RWD.

GTI = Very fun and "sporty" but the power very much lacks without in depth tuning and modding.

MS3 = mazda wannabe sports car = barf

Cooper = Everything seems really sweet..till you get the goddamn dash, then barf

I had it as my first car and it was very reliable, the handling was okay, and has a very nice interior IMO. I had it for 8 months traded it for a 08 335xi and I was amazed on what I was missing out on. Needless to say I had the 335xi for 10 months and just got my 2011 335i

Oh and as far as fast goes the Type-S I think has 286hp as i remember? Anyways it felt like a boat to me compared to the 335

BMW FTW!

I have a stock GTI ...I don't think that it lacks power. It replaced my 135I as my DD which had a tune. The GTI it sounds great does 1/4 in less then 15 gobs of torque. You complain about all those cars but being honest for the price what else do you want a civic si? a genesis? a corolla? I'd drive a cooper S over a 328I. I had a feb production 08 135 bought new had it for 2 years. The ms3,cooper,gti handle better then the 135I.Sure you can't drift those FWD cars but they can be fun. Honestly I wanted to chip the GTI but already in it's stock form torque steer is terrible left right left right.

Yes, I already said the GTI overall handles better than my 1er, but as far as power and delivery, the 1er beats the GTI 4 times over. I put over $7500 in mods into my GTI that put it ALMOST what I was getting with my stock 135i. Reason being is if you add a lot more boost and power to that 2.0 fwd powertrain, takes alot MORE mods just to be able to drive it. Very fun hatchback thou for sure, I miss the seats and the dsg

I prefer the power delivery of the GTI at least it doesnt die at higher rpm. I still miss my 1er but the GTI is brillant. There is enough power IMO no need to sink money in mods. I went with a (downgrade) for my DD to allocate more money for better toys while you went the other way around. I'm not regretting my choice. I could have kept the 1er but prefered the GTI. My brother has a GLI and hes going with a 335 in 2-3 weeks. His GLI is the main reason why I canned the 135I. There is one thing that I can't deny the 135 is a rocket.

Let's put it this way: You drive a 335I of course everything else will be slow. The GTI and MS3 are faster then a 328. Would you call a civic si underpowered? wrx slow? Come on let's be realist here for the money the genesis,gti,ms3 etc are all going to be the same(14.0 to 15.0 1/4 mile). They were not made to be the fastest things around. Speed is not everything. Lots of slower cars are fun. What about the MINI slow underpowered?
Most fwd have torque steer and suffer terrible wheel hopping btw when you buy one of those you know what you are getting into.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time but just puting you back on the right track.

Don't get me wrong I know they're not made to compete with 335s. I'm just saying that a FWD car is not fun to drive. Ya you can have some fun on a spirited drive in a GTI or a mini cooper, but once you push it a little too much all that understeer, tourqesteer, wheel hop is gonna ruin it.

There are cheap cars that are fun to drive. The mazda miata has the best MT and perfect 50/50 weight balance. Its slow as hell but you can still have a blast driving it. Also you mentioned the genesis. I believe that is a RWD with an LSD which is why it would be a lot of fun to drive.
