Correct. Canada never had, and still doesn't have, TPMS. Canadian cars use the FTM that doesn't require sensors in the wheels

Current Canadian do not have TPMS. The US is the only country that has mandated TPMS.

i have a '06 325i and it does have tpms. i bought the car with m5 replica rims and when i swapped them out to put my winter wheels on the indicator came on the dash. i intialized it and it then went away. when spring came i put the m5 reps back on and the tire gauge came on the dash again.

Somebody suggested to check the valve stems.Rubber= FTM Metal= TPMS.
Or i'll just call BMW dealer..

Is it true that if you have a rubber valve stems you have FTM,and if have metal valve stems you have TPMS??

I just checked my valve stems today and i do have metal valve stems....So i do have TPMS??

But, you still have to reset the FTM too after changing wheels.

That is the Flat Tire Monitor (FTM). It uses the ABS sensors to detect a difference in rotational speeds when you get a flat, or your air pressures are off. TPMS was introduced in the '07 models for the USA. If you have a 2006 USA car, you have FTM, unless you somehow retrofitted TPMS.

Your vehicle does not have TPMS sensors from the factory.

Jup my 06 325i didn't have them either. the way i understand it is that it uses the ABS sensors to detect the rotational difference between the 4 tires. Since a tire with low pressure gets a smaller diameter and therefore rotates faster.
