) for a DIY service reset for E90 but couldn`t find one. So decided to try the E60 DIY which wasn`t too far off. I realise most cars are still... |

Please help!!
I had to bring this back to life. I spent 45 min trying to change my Oil change indication date and miles but no matter what it says 06/2013 and 18k miles from now under the oil icon in secret menu. Also the service date is 5 years from now or 30K miles (car on the lift icon). How can I change the oil interval to lets say 8 months from now and 8-9K miles for the oil change and 15K miles or 1 year from now for the service interval? I tried changing date in the car and then reset to trick the computer, and no luck. Here is what I used to the tee:
Step 1 Insert key into slot Step 2 Press start/stop button without depressing clutch/brake and wait for the service reminder to dissapear. Step 3 Immediately after service reminder goes out, press and hold the odometer reset. After 3 secs a warning triangle will appear, keep the odo. button pressed and after another 2-3 secs the Oil can will appear. I f you hold it too long (10 secs in total) you will overshoot the runway and some German writing will appear giving the software level/ can bus etc. of the car. Go back to the beginning and start again. Step 4 You are now in the service menu, use the toggle switch on indicator stalk to scroll up/down through the various service items. Step 5 When you have the item you want to reset showing, press the BC button on end of indicator stalk. Reset should now appear in the display. Press in and hold the BC button for 2-3 secs and a clock will start whirling around and hey presto, its done Step 6 You can now either scroll up/down to select another item (as in step 4) or you can press the start/stop button to exit. |

You can't do this without a scan tool that can code. |

I changed the front brake pads over the weekend and the front brake service light wasn't over due yet, still have another 10000 ml, then I was trying to reset as per the above instruction and now the red brake pad warning came up and said: need to go to dealer to change the brake pads and I was trying to reset it several times but no luck. The car is 2007 335I sedan with 30,000 Ml on it.
Any advise what to do here. |

Save yourself a lot of headaches. Go to the dealer, buy the front and rear brake sensors and install them. Then light will disappear. Tkaes 2 minutes to install them.

(We still need to go through the brake pad service menu reset when the sensor is replaced)
If you still cannot reset it, start the car and go through the reset process with the car in park/neutral. Just received a Bavarian Technic tool, very easy to reset service reminders. The one reminder I could not set was the oil percentage, I wanted to mark it as 50% as I like to change it earlier, I know it is monitored by the engine and transmission sensors but wish I could set a 'best before' date to match my own comfort zone. |

Very accurate write-up. I replaced my spark plugs yesterday per the Bentley manual and this reset procedure works as advertised.
I also used the following thread for removing the cabin microfilter housing, engine cover and ignition coils on my N54: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...spark+plug+diy. This description/procedure is MUCH better than the one in the Bentley manual. |

if you see "---------" after reset brake interval
if you reset the brake service interval and after this you see red service light and "---------" You must change sensor. Why? read this:
![]() https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/d...W+5+Series+E60 You may use old sensor if it is completly untouched. If surface of sensor is used car detect this, but do not show any warning. If you reset interval you must use new sensor, because car detect that sensor is old ![]() //sorry for my english |

EDIT: i reset all of my engine faults... most of it was stuff that just hadn't been reset before (like last oil change, engine lift, etc.)
I still can't get rid of the Bulb Check, Seat Belt, or Airbag light... i guess i have to get these coded out... If you unlock the rest of the menus, you unlock option 21.00 "RESET?" which is supposed to reset your ECU... you think this would take care of those pesky seatbelt and airbag lights? I attached the full list (what i got from a while back...not 100% sure on what i can really do with this info though) |

Hi All, my first post! My car is a 2008 E91 320d.
Not ready through this forum fully, I managed to get the brake pads warning messed up with the ----- for front and rear pad life left by not changing the sensors and performing the reset sequence. Doh! If I now replace the front and rear sensors, will I be able to reset the brake pad service warning and clear the car on a lift and brake warning dash light using the stated procedure. Many thanks |
