Front Bumper Respray

Hi,

I left my car parked yesterday and some t*at has caught the front bumper whilst driving off.

It's not major damage but will need a respray for sure, it's gone though the paint.

I had always planned on getting the bumper resprayed anyway because it is stone chipped all over so I guess that this has bought it forward.

1. Should I just buy a bumper off ebay, get it painted and fit it.
2. Get the existing bumper resprayed, cost of this?
3. Best place to get some 'clear-bra' type material and put on fixed bumper.

Thanks,

Steve.

1. If the bumper isn't damaged badly then it would be cheaper to have fixed. Likely cost of a repair whilst on the car would be around 100

2. You would have to factor in the cost of a replacement bumper but most used item on eBay for example are also damaged, so to get a good one would push the price up further. The only benefit here is if your bumper is badly damaged and that a full bumper respray is easier off the car.

3. Dunno, Google? I'll let someone else answer that

My front bumper was damaged by flying debris on the M4 and the paintwork and plastic was badly chipped. My local dealers bodyshop resprayed the whole bumper for about 400 and blended in the paint. It came out looking perfect.

Steve.
3M do a product that some detailers have been trained to install. Very expensive though.
My pal Lee at Xtreme Detailing has done a bit of work with this product.

Try calling some local pro detailers.

Took it today to ManchesterCarRefurb.com just outside Manchester. Brilliant bloke, very helpful and for 200 took the bumper off, fully prepped it to get rid of all stone chips and painted it.

Looks like new, cannot recommend this place enough. Might go back to get the bonnet done now.

Only downside is the guy he uses to apply vinyl could not make it so will have to rebook to get the clear bra applied.

Steve.
