Engine oil clarification please!! - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hi

Ive done lots of research and even search on website regarding my cars engine oil grade, even opie oils say its 5w30 Castrol edge , i just bought 8 litre for the service ,and now i saw some people, talk about 0w30 oils for the 335i?

can any tell me the exact manufacturer grade that i need ??

Opie oil are generally spot on with their reccomendations so I wouldn't worry too much, the difference between 0W30 and 5W30 is that the 5W30 will be a little thicker when cold. More important is to check the standards the oil conforms to on the back of the package are approved by BMW for your vehicle.

5W30 is the factory 'reccommended' grade.

LL04 if you want to use long service intervals

Edge 5w30 is stock ll04 however some dealers use mobil 1
