My Order Timeline - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I am posting this as an informational thread to those out there who may be in a similar order situation. This is nothing more than my timeline....which I will be updating as the process progresses.

08/22/05 --- Order Placed--Deposit Given

08/25/05 --- Salesman gives me a production week of the first week in October.

09/30/05 --- Production Begins(according to salesmans computer)

10/01/05 --- 800 recording reflects production has begun with a completion date of 10/12/05. Owners Circle shows it is now "scheduled for production". A visit to my salesman and a check of his computer system shows the same info along with the info that production started on 09/30.

10/09/05 --- 800 recording shows it in the paint shop

10/11/05 --- 800 recording shows production is complete and my vehicle is awaiting transport.

10/12/05 --- 800 recording shows vehicle has been released to carrier for transport.

10/13/05 --- 800 recording shows vehicle in transit to port of exit. Owners Circle shows "Awaiting Transport"

10/14/05 --- 800 recording shows vehicles has arrived at the port of exit, awaiting a transport vessel and no shipping information is available yet.

10/25/05 --- 800 recording and Owners Circle finally show it in transport. Called my salesman and he says it is scheduled to arrive at port in California on 11/17/05.

11/19/05 --- 800 recording shows it has arrived at port and is awaiting a shipping vessel.

11/20/05 --- 800 recording and Owners Circle show it has arrived at the VPC.

11/21/05 --- Receive a call from my salesman telling me the OEM spoiler is in and being painted and that they expect my car to arrive at the dealership by mid-week. Of course Thanksgiving will be messing it up, so he expects it to be ready for me to pick up the first part of next week.

11/29/05 --- After a shipping delay from the VPC, my car has arrived at the dealership. My salesman says even though it arrived this afternoon, it most likely won't be ready for pickup until Friday. He says they are receiving a high volume and it will take them that long to get the spoiler installed and have it detailed for delivery. After three months, what is three more days. HELL I tell you, I wanted it last week!

12/01/05 --- Its been a long three months, but the day finally arrived.

The 800 number and Owners Circle were running right along side my salesmans computer up until the car arrived at port in California. The 800 number showed it was at the port awaiting a shipping vessel up until 11/29, which was a good 10 days behind. The Owners Circle was pretty accurate, only a couple days behind.

It seems like a long wait for the car to be produced. I ordered mine on 8/23 and I thought mine took a long time to enter production. It's now on a boat due to get in on 10.10. How come they couldn't get an earlier production slot? I'm assuming you're a week 40 production?

What color is your car. I was told its due to the delayed availability color I ordered. My sales rep said he expects my Mystic Blue to be one of the first ones the dealership receives.

Yes it is. No one in the US has taken delivery of a mystic blue E90 yet.

Another reason you are getting yours so quickly could be this. When they entered your order in the computer, they may have found one exactly matching your specs that they were able to wheel and deal from another dealership.

i ordered mines on 9/18 and completed at 10/19. Its is sitting at the port of exit waiting for delivery now

When is cut off day to build 2006 model and start build 2007? Just thinking to move my ED from July to the end of August - beg. Of September (before kids go to school). Was today with my wife on Bob Smith BMW - ask salesmen for test drive 325i, 330i with and with out sport packages.

one reason it may seem long is the summer vacation schedule at the factory.

things grind to a halt in august -- when they re-open, there's a backlog.

that's what I've been told, anyway.

I heard it is extremely difficult to track ships coming to the west coast so I didn't even ask for the name of the ship. I'm content in knowing the estimated day of arrival. I just hope it doesn't stall out at the Vehicle Processing Center due to any "mishaps" along the way.

i ordered a mystic blue on 11/4 and it's already in the shop with completion date set to 11/24. really weird you ordered yours in august and still are waiting for it

Thanks. When I ordered mine, they weren't even making them in the color Mystic......so basically I was on a waiting list for a color they weren't even painting cars yet. But its all good, cuz the first Mystic didn't even make it to the US until about a month ago......so I'm not too far behind.

I was able to get delivery bumped up a day, so thursday evening is the big day. Of course they are forcasting a snow storm here and I live 35 miles from the dealership, so I may get screwed over by mother nature. Lets think warm rainy thoughts.
