after market warranty for air con
Hi guys....
Ok so 3 months in to owning the e91, and have noticed that the air con stopped working before the weekend. Just had an independant air con specialist out - who replaced 3/4 of the air con system on my old e36 M3. the diagnosis isnt great - kinda as expected - think he said the condensor solenoid within the unit has gone kerput.... and he has given some initial indications of aorund £500 to £800 depending on the exact part required and if the condensor has gone bang and sent anything into the next part of the air con - then it might be more expensive. Now there is an aftermarket warranty from warranty direct which seems to cover quite a .... has anyone used this scheme??? anything to look out for? Thanks Matt |

Does he mean the compressor clutch?? There is no such thing as a condenser solenoid.

No Fear

lots of companies out there that swap broken compressors for refurbished ones; also a good flush of the system should get rid of any debris. the price seems a tad excessive for what the work entails.

If he replaced 3/4 of your E36 M3 air con, then either you are very unlucky when it comes to air con systems, or he is taking the p##s!!

![]() I guess he's found a novel way to make a living here! If the compressor clutch solenoid has failed then a new compressor would run to that kind of money. Try another garage mate, but first CHECK THE FUSES!!! I dont know this car, but some have a fuse specifically for the compressor solenoid, even if the name on it is a little misleading.

As for my old M3 - the air con system was completely shot to pieces before I bought the car - part of the reason I managed to get the car so cheap. Appreciate all the comments - he's come back and said £500 for a new compressor, fitted, regas the system, and a "service"..... so I'm gonna have a think what to do |
